The worst part is how no one even knows exactly what your triggers are. Every time I ask some to stop making a sound, they look at me with a blank face like,"What sound?" They don't even hear it. And ur left looking even more insane.

At first it's hard to explain, but keep fighting! Hopefully one day we'll be able to make a change!

Hi, I just want you to know that you are not alone. Dealing with misophonia paranoia sucks SO much, but it will get better as you learn to cope (which i'm sure you've learned by now.) but yeah, mine is really severe and has caused many many problems, and i'm so glad that you are spreading awareness! it helps people like us and helps getting closer to finding a cure.

I think I have misophonia and I want to tell you what I've been going through I'm a 11 yr old and I can't stand the noise of people eating , biting their nails , burping and people chewing gum at dinner time my family drive me NUTS , my dad and sister always chews and they dont care that it drives me INSANE . I have punched walls ran to my room or sat there and cried . the worst part is my mum thinks I'm attention seeking because I mainly just go insane by my sister and my dad and it pisses me off. in the morning my sister plays music and I can't stand it I usually sit there and cry . imagine that cycle of dinner time and in the morning on repeat for the last 2 years my family don't understand how I feel and I just wish that they get put in my shoes for a day my family are driving me insane and I can't bare it anymore , I just want to have a free life and not get driven insane any advice on what I should do . please help me

Hey, I'm 11 as well and I've been suffering this condition for a few years now, although these tips haven't helped me 100% I've still attempted to adjust them to my triggers. Tip 1: This is the typical, wear headphones. But I usually listen to music I hate (Sounds weird) but because I hate it, it distracts me from the noises going around and causes me to have less anxiety. Tip 2: Car journeys are my worst nightmare, so I usually hide under a blanket and listen to music. That way I cannot visually see them making that sound and I will not imagine them sniffing and I will have less chance of freaking out. I know I haven't got many tips, but these 2 tips help me the most with my condition. Best wishes, Lucy xox

One thing to do during a trigger is use white noise or music in general. Stress can also worsen it, so I use this spa noise machine at night. I listen to thunder, rain, anything that will get me to sleep. You can get it at Wal-Mart, that's where I got mine. Also, caffeine will also worsen reactions.

I have misophonia for about four years ago. I don't really remember how it started but it happened pre-puberty. I'm currently fourteen, and some noises I can't stand. Like, picking dry skin at the heel, singing..it just feels like a mini-person is tangling up your brain as if there are wires in my brain and their pressing buttons so that I feel pain towards the sound.

Yeah my friend will literally say, "No," if I look at her when she's singing to a song, bitting her nails, ect. Then she will get pissy like I have done something bad to her.

Some people are pretty insensitive to this, they like to tease when they hear about it.This is also the reason I won't click on videos that say "Muckbang" in the video, it's just people talking with their mouth full of food.
