I faced this gainer and looser issue in my Network and after watching this video all my confusions are cleared and now I can confidently deal with these issues. In my case it was gainer in the same type of fiber. Corning G.652.D

I am glad you liked it. I wanted to make it a shorter video. I have such a tough time not saying too much! It is an important subject though.

But most of sites say that G657 has Big MFD from G652 so 🤷 and there is ring in cladding of G657 that will reduce the MFD problem

hello sir i am looking to buy the exfo 730c sm2 live otdr with iolm + iadvanced but the sales person couldnt clear some of my doubts if you could answer them 1.suppose i have a ftth network and i dont how many and what configuration splitters are places in the line i am going to test so will the otdr will be able to identify that

Writ, Hello my friend. Yes the 730C can test up to 1x128 split. one thing you must keep in mind is we need distance before and after the splitter to detect it. A launch cable on the front will solve the front end. If the fiber after the splitter is short you may not be able to detect many events after it. What does your FTTH splitter architecture look like? Also, be sure and get the iADV option so you can take advantage of custom splitter characterization. Send me an email if you want details. Kevin.Peres@EXFO.com
