Sorry if I am not mistaken, the "MQ" does not stand for Message Queuing. There is a lot of confusion about the name MQTT and whether the protocol is implemented as a message queue or not. MQTT refers to the MQ Series product from IBM and has nothing to do with “message queue“. Regardless of where the name comes from, it’s useful to understand the differences between MQTT and a traditional message queue - HiveMQ

From IBM's own site: "IBM MQ is messaging and queuing middleware..." Therefore "MQ" stands for "messaging and queueing", which means "message queueing" is close enough to make sense. Messaging and Queueing Telemetry Transport
