Hey , do we mean by MULTIMODALITY a combination of modes ( signs ) ? If i got your point, than we use different modes in sake of communication or conveying a desired message .. those modes can be visual, audible, written signs...etc. Layout do we mean by it what ever we organize in the space to convey a communicative item ? Composition, refers to what we put and how to put it ..? Ordering tu put things in an ordered way Cohesion refers to the devices we use to make a text coherent. Am i in the right way ?

Multimodality can be as simple as a picture book with some words. The text is one mode, the words are another, and they both contribute to the overall meaning of the book.
