Great video mate! I'm a BMS engineer (remote) so things like this are invaluable to me when using these systems remotely.

Excellent video, really well put together so non professionals like myself who are considering an MVHR system can get a really good foundation understanding. 👍🏼

do you need distribution box or can you just put T junctions on 125mm ducking ?

Interested, if you put a heating coil that will heat the air, but if you don't the air will flow to the bottom of the room.

You can put a heating coil and/or a cooling coil on the air supply, but it you do you also need to deliver more air in order to affect the room temperature. Ideally twice as much air. Otherwise it's like putting an ice cube in a sauna. It's still frozen but it's still hot. You also need to be able to do that without creating an acoustic issue, so that normally means a bigger fan unit, more ducting, and larger diameter pipes too. If you're cooling then all supply pipes need lagging to avoid condensation issues. Before you attempt to cool the air you must always try to prevent unnecessary over-heating through passive measures, otherwise your active (comfort) cooling will only compensate for poor building design. The heating coil will only ever offer supplementary heating. You will always need a primary heat source, which ideally feeds the bottom of the room

@@eliotwarrington5608 Sorry I wanted to say: that is ok for the air to be lower temperature when entering the room, that will make the air to get to the bottom of the room and then raise it as getting warmer. If the air it was already warm, the natural recirculation of the air will be missing. (I didn't take in considerations that all this systems no mater the air temperature have an exhaust also, helping the recirculation of the air)

How important is it to keep doors closed, to prevent recycling already processed air?

Nice explanation in short . How you manage it to be odor-free? If the exhaust is taken from kitchen and bathroom along with living rooms then surely the mixing of odor will be there. How about having a separate ventilation for kitchen & bathroom via flexible duct & not joining it with MVHR. Usually I have seen separate exhaust for kitchen & bathroom, also negative pressure so that the air is coming-in in those areas. Apart from that.. just a side question..are there good hvac jobs in UK who have tier 2 sponsorship? cuz I am interested in working there.

Kitchen & bathrooms are both sucking and are blown out of the house without mixing with any other rooms. Living areas and bedrooms receive fresh air from outside and never mix with the exhaust.

Thanks! I definitely want an MVHR, as part of my personal strategy to be almost entirely self reliant, and it's needed for PassivHaus I need to see what my airtightness is too. I've got a guy coming out for that next week The added indoor air quality is also a bonus, but I can't imagine many people are installing MVHRs for the sole purpose of indoor air quality, and long term health even though that's something we should value more than energy savings (including myself)

Great video and ideas! I was thinking too about installing a heater coil ( or water batery ) in the MVHR, but a question it rise up, Why does it has to be after the MVHR unit and not before the unit? I saw it on youtube this heater coil mounted in MVHR before entering the unit, why is that? Thank you!😃

I would be wary of air conditioning MVHR lines if they are not all insulated leading to all of the ducts, condensation could form on them all above the ceilings.

How do I look into getting into this on a professional level? I’m currently a kitchen and bathroom fitter and I wouldn’t mind getting into something new. I have put up with a lot of rubbish extractor fans that ain’t worth even half of their cost and completely useless. I also get a lot of calls from people suffering with bad circulation and condensation build up in their homes around my area.

Whereabouts are you Dean? We always need conscientious installers who are passionate about the product and what it can do for people. People who will lose sleep and go back to a job if they think they've missed something. We'll even train good people if needed. We don't do botch it and scarper

Probably a good thing to get into tbf. I'm sure that the government will force MVHR installations into new houses, in the future, especially if MPs know what PassivHaus is. Having an MVHR insulates the UK from external market forces
