Missed in Video: - V20 no longer supports self-hosted free and PBX Pi installs (SBC can still be used on Pi) - Free Tier is hosted for up to 10 users - You own everything on the system, if you need to move you can do so at anytime. I'll make a video soon showing that move.

so, I sorted out my split horizon DNS just in time for March 3rd and my 4SC renewed until July 2nd; - are we saying that it will not renew? ...not keen on having to use my PBX as an SBC!

Call me cynical but it could be a deliberate tactic - if you tell people what it is at the start then most people won't watch the rest of the video

had to ask an ai chatbot here's what it says: Imagine a switchboard for your office phones, but instead of a physical box with wires, it's a software program. That's basically what 3CX Phone System is. It lets you make and receive calls, hold video conferences, and even chat with website visitors, all through this program.

Great video! I switched from 3CX (which is not bad) to Thirdlane Multi Tenant PBX, and they provide a wealth of value for MSPs like me.

Went from v18 to v20. Gave up on the in place update because there is no visible way of knowing what it was doing and it failed 3 times. Instead jus made sure that the upgrade pre-requirements were met, took a backup disconnected the v18 from the network and spun up a new 3cx server from the v20 ISO then jus restored the backup which in my case was very straight forward. Check your existing phones are compatible before upgrade. At first I could not find things like the Trunk which was showing Red because I run an unsupported generic trunk that I have been using for 4+ years at least. Then took me a while to fix some CID rules but I'm now happy with it.

I've installed many Mitel 415/430 and 470. Mitel dropping support this year for Mitel 415/430 is quite a shock for me, since they aren't even this old (for a CS). The nice thing about Mitel CS is the ability to configure ports for specific analog input devices like Relais, Door-Openers and many more. But since I don't work in that field anymore, I don't know what will replace the 415/430 here in Switzerland, since Mitel here is huge!

They removed the self-hosted free tier with v20 and PBX Support on Pi. Sorry I missed that in the video. The Hosted Free option is still free for up to 10 users. A cool thing about having your own system is you can always move it to another system at anytime. So move it to a FreePBX if you need self-host. I'll do a video on it.

The hosted free version was so limited I found, there is no way to use a generic SIP trunk and I weren't prepared to muck around with my numbers moving them to another provider. I did get it working though with my DECT phones but as the Self Hosted was not much more expensive than the hosted Pro version I carried on Self-Hosting. I have a number of VMs anyway so running another was not much of an expense.

So we have it running on a windows server (V18) is the recommendation to uninstall the existing version and reinstall with V20? I don't see an upgrade path.

I find the interphase of ver 20 annoying and confusing ver18 was definitely more organized and set out in a more understandable way, also the security is a pain you need spilt DNS or hairpin Nat just to use features like VC and cell apps that used to work perfectly on v18, I don’t like it and won’t sell it anymore, I’ll use Yeastar as I have no issues in the field with any of my client’s .

My SystemOwner was not assigned properly, as i did this update 3-4 Month's ago for a Business. I solved also just by restore, assign the right users as Admins and SystemOwners and then upgrade again. 3 Month's ago it wasn't public known, that there is that issue, because, before only root/admin was a SystemOwner on this system. A different Issue with a different business was, the users had have 10-Digit-password, alphanumeric without special characters. And all users had the same mail assigned to them. The old password was not valid anymore, reset password wasn't possible becuase every user had same mail. And this was the second time i had to restore the system and then do a upgrade agein. I think I've read somewhere that you shouldn't blur areas and that you should just block out.

Some carriers do not allow you to use any gateway but theirs. So be aware of that for split DNS.

Chris, I'm sorry. but you accidentally showed the real IP address (in the lower left corner) at 2:35. I recommend deleting the video and remounting it (I checked, the address is valid)
