I‘ve seen Operation Mincemeat a month ago and loved it very much! The five-people-cast playing about 20 different characters was amazing and I very much enjoyed the music. I’m from Switzerland and I do hope that it could be a smash on Broadway! But difficult to predict for me…

Saw it last month and loved every minute of it. The cast is brilliant!! I realized that perhaps I was missing references to some well-known british historical figures simply because they are not part of the cutural education i received. However, the didn't necessarily interfere with my ability to enjoy great performances and an incredibly smart show. As much as I would love to see this come to Broadway, I worry about how it will translate - much like I worry about how Shucked will translate to the West End. Comedy is so culturally specific. Either way, I'd love the opportunity to see it again either back in London or stateside - especially if they can import the cast with the rest of the show . . . Jak Malone and David Cumming made the show!!!

Have you seen or listened to Mincemeat?? What do you think?

Well, to quote The Big Lebowski, "That's just, like, your opinion, man". I think it's a whole lotta fun and would definitely see it on Broadway. I didn't have any problems with the accents or the storyline. And plenty of "British" shows have done exceptionally well. "The Play That Goes Wrong", "Six", and some have won Best Musical Tonys like "Billy Elliott". Best of all, it's based on an unbelievable but true story. The songs are equally funny and heartbreaking like "Dear Bill". If it transfers, it's #1 on my must see list.

Hope it transfers. Have been hearing about it and wanting to see it.

I'm so, so curious if I'll be proven wrong about how it fares if it does transfer to Broadway. Operating costs are low and it's a comedy--both of those factors bode really well for it! Just curious if the humor will land here in the same way, or in a marketable way.

@@itskatharinequinn Maybe off Broadway is a better choice?

I saw it a few weeks ago. The first act was excellent. I think the second act still needs work. I don’t think it would succeed in this form in NYC.

If they fixed what you feel needs work in Act II, do you think it would work on Broadway?
@randikaplan565910 ай бұрын
It would need to be directed a little differently as well. I think it would need to be a little less slapstick, and a little weightier.

Having seen Hamilton and Mincemeat...i definitely prefer Mincemeat!!...you got the review spot on. 👌 totally British (I'm British!) ...I think US audiences will struggle..no shade.

I saw it in London and I loved it. But I 100000% agree with you. However, I don’t think it’ll read in America. If you get British humor, then you’d enjoy it. Otherwise, it’ll go over your head.

Right? I just don’t think it will land quite the same way-and I don’t necessarily want them to change it to fit our palates, either. It’s such a treat as is ❤

It’s had smash reviews in The New York Times, Washington Post and Variety so…..let’s hope it can cross the pond.

It totally can! Just don’t know how it would do on Broadway specifically. Super curious. But I think it’s smart and charming and I loved the experience.

It's interesting that... a lot of things you point out here, especially that Mincemeat feels very British, you can actually mirror when thinking about Shucked playing on the West End, which feels of course very American. I haven't seen both but I'm very curious and interested how audiences will react, in both cases if they happen.

Totally true...and Shucked pokes of fun of its own Americanness a bit in the way that Operation Mincemeat does its Britishness. Am SO curious how each will fair "across the pond."
