I really like this look 😊 I have some beautiful silvers that I want to use but not only in grey and black looks 😀 I have of couse thought about silver and purple, but I would not have thought to add such a bright blue 😊 I did a blue purple silver look 2 years ago with ColourPop Frozen Elsa, but that blue is veeeery different... so thank you for the inspiration 😊

You're welcome :) I do such look pretty often - burgund + pastel either blue, pink or mint + silver in any shade. White shimmer also looks great with such look, even those white with gold shift, but I prefere silver more :D

Very interesting, this oversaturation thing! I often like to start with the darkest shade, when I want to get into deep shades, but I wasn't really doing it for a reason other than liking it that way 😊 that deep colour is absolutely gorgeous 😍
@EwaMakeupArtist Жыл бұрын
I used to start with medium or even the lightest shade. When you start with the lightest shade to the darkest one you can actually use only one brush to do your whole eye makeup (I plan to make a video to show this in the future). There's no right nor wrong technique, but when you start with the darkest shade you achieve better results. And you can avoid possible patchiness. Patchiness is when you use the darkest shade on your eye base and already you see unevenness. In this case the fault was layering. Oversaturation doesn't occur super often tho. Even in all Carnival palettes it applies to only some shades, for example in Love Tahiti there's only one shade that has this issue. That's why sometimes I test dark eyeshadows several times. Sometimes, however, I like to put a darker shade on a light one and then I don't know if the unevenness is the fault of oversaturation or patchiness :D

@@EwaMakeupArtist that really is super interesting! I should play around a bit more with layering and observe what happens! 😊

If you want to make your outer corner patchy on purpose, then sure xD This "works" with super pigmented eyeshadows, they are mostly quite dark colors.

Sometimes when I have that oversaturation problem what I do is: I clean that area, apply a tiny amount of eyeprimer and reapply the darker shade once the primer has settle, or I dust the eyeshadow with a clean brush, I apply a bit of primer and then a touch of the shadow, if you are careful it's not not noticeable and works wonders. The makeup look turned amazing, I really love it!!

I know this technique and rarely use it. There are so many things that can go wrong with that technique, and all you have to do to avoid it is to start with the darkest shade - problem solved. Plus I noticed with some shades this technique can work. There are some shades that are so pigmented that are on the very thin line between oversaturation and patchiness. Applying primer again triggers patchniness. They are rare, I only had a few shades like the ones I mentioned, but it's still not worth it :p

I learned so much from this video! I'm very familiar with this problem I just didn't know it had a name or why it happened. I think there's 2 types of eyeshadow applications , those that work medium/light to dark and those that work dark and blend the edges with a lighter shade. I'm the type that likes to start w a crease color and build build build. I've had to work on the other techniques because many eyeshadows don't layer or stick together. Some eyeshadows are just difficult!
@EwaMakeupArtist Жыл бұрын
There's a lot of different eyeshadows applications, main 3 - from the lightest to the darkest one, the other way and starting with the medium shade, maybe transition one and then all possible varieties. What you are talking about is "types" of eyeshadows. It's not that easy. But the main rule is - super pigmented eyeshadows may cause oversaturation. There's no 100% possibility that it will happen, because sometimes it's not the "fault" of 1 eyeshadow, for example: I have one black eyeshadow that cause oversaturation only with one burgundy shade in the same palette. Both, black and burgundy don't cause oversaturation when used with different shades that are also super pigmented. In this case the problem occurs only with the fusion of only these 2 shades, while they are ok with other shades. In other cases there can be only 1 eyeshadow that will cause oversaturation when used not as the first eyeshadow. Let's say you apply for example super pigmented pink shade and then even darker blue and you'll get oversaturation, then the question is: is pink, blue or maybe both of them together the cause of this phenomenon? You would have to test blue and pink separately to establish that. It's hard to remember all shades that cause oversaturation + possible combos that can cause that. Plus who have time to really test all of this? Hence is better to start from the darkest shade. Or resign from such palette. Not every palette or pigmentations are for everyone. And for the issues with layering/blending "difficult" shades I recomend my sandwich technique. Basically layering eyeshadows. I don't remeber if I explained this technique in this video or not, but for sure I did that in the video about all blending techniques with Nabla Read My Mind palette.

I love your explanation on over saturation because other influencers might just call this a bad palette because they don’t know the proper technique to use with this palette.
@EwaMakeupArtist Жыл бұрын
There's no such a thing as "proper technique". If someone likes to start with the lightest shade then this is simply not the product for them. The products are meant to serve us, not the other way. Using shades from the darkest to the lightest is for sure more recommended way to work with this palette, it's for sure the technique most makeup artist use, technique that will give better results and will mostly avoid problems such as oversaturation. Most products on the market aren't bad, but what makes them bad is a matter of perspective. For example I don't really like chunky shades. Some people love chunky, flakey super shimmery shades from GlamShop and they don't understand why I don't like them, when these eyeshadows work greatly with finger. From their perspective, I'm wrong, because the eyeshadows are divine, and I only need to use my finger. Brushes are my favorite method of applying eyeshadows. So if something doesn't really want to apply with a brush, it's bad for me. In this case, can we talk about the correct and incorrect technique of applying shimmers?

I'm loving the name sandwiche technique 😂 the looks you created are stunning btw 🥰 I was actually not that interested in the palette because of all the blues and purples but you might have made me reconsider 🤔
@EwaMakeupArtist Жыл бұрын
There's only a few purples and blues. I think the biggest part have greys, greyish-greens and pastels :D I can see you are relatively new here, so you missed my videos with Read My Mind palette. When I reviewed that palette I took an opportunity and meanwhile explained a lot of my blending techniques including sandwich, smokey eye, cut crease, spotlight and so on. I don't know why I named layering that way. Maybe I just relate this technique to the Scooby and Shaggy’s gigantic sandwiches
