The whole PA umbrella can be confusing for many trained and untrained educators but that's no reason to take shortcuts when releasing content as important as this! You did an excellent job of explaining everything! It is the most accurate explanation of phonological awareness on KZbin. FYI I don't know if hashtags work in the comments, but I'll try anyway 🤷♂lol #mustwatch #teachenglish #learnenglish #esl

Thank you so much for your comment! ❤️ I totally agree that it can be so confusing, but it's so important to understand it. I did not comprehend it at all in college and not fully until about my 5th year of teaching. Once I understood it though, I wanted to break it down in a simple way for others to understand 😊

Excellent video. I am learning so much and feel absolutely more confident than I was. Just a quick note. I saw where the word "balloon" was shown to have 3 syllables. I didn't know that! I always broke it down to 2. Very Interesting. Looking forward to watching more of your videos.

When I was a child, I learned how to read when a lady used a book and taught me the phonics method of reading. But no one does this on KZbin, could You do this to help children learn how to read?
@learningwithyaritza23 күн бұрын
@@markbrooks4252 teaching how to read using a scope and sequence of phonics patterns is the best way to learn. There's so many curriculums that follow that approach. I can make a video with a suggested phonics scope and sequence.

Have you have of Heggerty? I also live in Texas and we have no phonics curriculum. I was wondering if it would be a good resources to implement.
@learningwithyaritza3 жыл бұрын
I have heard of Heggerty, but only because of the Kinder Tribe teacher Facebook group. It's a very helpful group and teachers have shared the pros and cons of it and how they make it work with their class. I did see that you can download a free sample of it from their website and if you need to invest in your own phonics curriculum, it's not too expensive...
@Teallovesyouu3 жыл бұрын
Okay thanks. I will join the group!
@ahra65983 жыл бұрын
Heggerty is phonemic awareness curriculum. But it is not a phonics curriculum. Heggerty has many parts and many teachers seem to break up the lesson through out the day. Or they may skip to segmenting and blending because these skills have the most benefit for reading. There is new research that suggests that tying sounds with grapheme as soon as possible has greater benefit than just phoneme alone.

I want to help my dyslexic child with phonological and phonemic awareness but she is older and become offended when she sees such little childish words, is there a program with bigger words as to not make her feel like she’s doing baby work?
@learningwithyaritza2 жыл бұрын
Hi there! The only program that comes to mind is Heggerty. Here is the link to one of their resources, you can browse and determine if it would fit your child's needs. Hope it helps: heggerty.org/product/bridge-the-gap-intervention/
