👉 Photosynthesis is the way plants make their own food. They use sunlight to turn water and carbon dioxide into food (sugar) and oxygen.

2️⃣ The Photosynthesis Equation: ?
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
👉 The simplified chemical equation for photosynthesis is:
This means six molecules of carbon dioxide and six molecules of water, using light energy, produce one molecule of glucose and six molecules of oxygen.

3️⃣ Chloroplasts and Pigments: ?
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
👉 Photosynthesis occurs in chloroplasts, which contain chlorophyll, a green pigment. Chlorophyll absorbs light, mostly in the blue and red wavelengths, and reflects green light, which is why plants appear green.

4️⃣ Two Stages of Photosynthesis: ?
▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
🔷 ( Step 1 ) Light-dependent Reactions:
👉 These occur in the thylakoid membranes of the chloroplasts. Here, light energy is converted into chemical energy in the form of ATP and NADPH. Water molecules are split, releasing oxygen as a by-product.
🔷 ( Step 2 ) Calvin Cycle (Light-independent Reactions):
👉 These occur in the stroma of the chloroplasts. The ATP and NADPH produced in the light-dependent reactions are used to convert carbon dioxide into glucose through a series of enzyme-driven steps

👉 Photosynthesis is essential for the survival of most life on Earth. It provides oxygen for respiration and the glucose produced is a primary source of energy for many organisms. It also forms the basis of the food chain.
