I layed methylnethacrylate which is acrylic floors for years a stinking resin mixed with quartz stone and hardened with bpo peroxide powder which hardens the resin very quickly when mixed .

Hi Taylor, love your videos! I'm looking to work with a manufacturer to replicate the classic translucent plastics look from the 90s in some modern gaming consoles. Do you know what type of plastic is best suited to maintain the classic aesthetic while also meeting the thermal demands of a console?

Acrylics or polycarbonate or pet are all good options!

Hey Taylor, I am a manufacturing engineer from Oklahoma that works with acrylic everyday. You seem to be extremely knowledgeable about this material and I'd like to know more, for example the specifics of how crazing occurs on a micro level and how heat can impact this, as well as some general chemistry questions. I work for one of the only companies in the world that manufactures stretched acrylic which modifies it's properties and failures modes in really cool ways to maybe I could be of use to your knowledge base as well? If you'd be willing I would love to get your contact for general collaboration.

My expertise is actually not in polymers or certainly not in acrylics anyways. I am always interested in sponsored research opportunities to help you get to the bottom of some challenges that you might be facing or some understanding that you seek to learn though.

Thank you for the video! May I ask one question? What is the difference of the PMMA used in the glass and ones used in the photoresist?

That's really interesting. If I may ask what are some of the challenges that are faced when drilling PMMA and what defects do the drilled holes tend to have

So, drilling through PMMA can be tricky because it's a little bit brittle. If you try and drill too fast then it can crack. However, if you drill too slowly then it will also generate heat and it will melt the bit to the plastic or cause localized melting which is also not a nice defect.

Hi, I'm chemical engineering student from Turkey, I have a homework to my Tech polimers lesson and it's about to sum a video about PMMA and I want to use that with showing source. Is that ok with you professor ?
