Question is this kind of mode on any Chevy police vehicle’s
@eggietheroll18026 жыл бұрын
Pursuit Mode also disengages the A/C to allow all available horsepower. It also will hold the gear you're in going through a turn or curve.
@turbo2ltr6 жыл бұрын
The A/C thing is just from flooring it, not tied to pursuit mode directly. i.e. I can floor it and have the A/C kick off but not have pursuit mode activated (when I get off, it does not keep the revs up). Though the thing about the turns I have noticed after I made this video. If I hook a turn it get triggered, but wasn't sure if it was just because the braking before the turn.. I do believe you are right that it can be triggered by turning alone.

I’m glad I came across this video. I have a 2016 police utility and had to slam on my breaks on the highway today because of traffic entering too slow. When I got back on the gas lightly, it was screaming in high RPMs and I was genuinely confused for a minute but figured it was some sort of interceptor feature to have power ready. Thank you for helping me clear that up.

Just so you know, if you wanna make this transmission simulate pursuit mode manually, put the transmission in the low range(the button on the end of the shifter)I've got videos of my car on my channel in several situations and even on a race track that I run the car well over a 100 miles an hour in the low range which is basically a manual selection of the same features as to pursuit mode. P.S. When you do this for the 1st time it's gonna be really nerve wracking because your thinking that the car is not going to upshift but trust me if there's anything the Ford engineers did right they did it with the transmissions in these cars!!! Two of mine are 2015 Interceptor Sedan Twin Turbo Eco boost 3.5s and 1 of them is a 2014 3.7 and they both do the same thing flawlessly. Bonus Tip: One other little thing most people don't know.... is even though they have the foot brake parking brake with the push to release feature, If you push on the pedal while you're actually traveling down the road, the E- brake will not lock the pedal down unless the car is close to stationary(just like the trunk release won't work while moving)...... so you can literally do an E brake turn with the parking brake pedal without the fear of the parking brake being locked on after you've released it. A pretty cool feature if you ask me....... just don't ask me how I found these things out.🤫🚓💨

I read in the manual and this guy is exactly right! This whole pursuit mode that this Guy in the video is talking about is just Fords engineering that is a learning transmission and it’s his car trying to keep the RPMs high because it’s a police interceptor. The transmissions trying to learn his driving techniques and how he drives so it keeps the best performance in the vehicle and he’s really jacking with it by doing what he’s doing. I personally own a 3.7 right now.
@philthompson65273 жыл бұрын
Does putting it into low gear also lower the amount of fuel going into the engine? This is common with engines when being stuck in mud and stuff for more torque. For the FPIU is it only when in first gear then for this matter?

Fords with DCT(dual clutch transmission) are able to do this by putting it in “sport” mode. When in sport mode it will downshift just by tapping the brake pedal. If you hit it hard sometimes it will downshift two gears. It will also downshift when you corner hard. Also it will hold gears longer and shift later and harder. Dual clutch was available in Focus and some Fusion 2012 and later. A lot of people hated these transmissions because they work differently than a torque converter and can be clumsy in parking lots and other low speed driving. Once you get used to it I think it’s great!! Another feature that Ford doesn’t want you to know about is it has launch mode ala Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bugatti. Put it in sport mode (make damn sure you turn traction control off) put in manual first put your foot on the brake floor it( only goes to 3500 rpms) take your foot off the brake and it’s like dumping the clutch. Great fun if you’re renting or using someone else’s car. It’s tough on the clutch so don’t do it too much. I would try going into the settings on your vehicle and see if there is anything in there that you can change. (where you change lighting settings eat.)

I recently bought a 2014 Explorer PPV.. The trans was rebuilt prior to me buying it from the car lot.. It was having issues shifting and what I found was crazy.. The passengers side motor mount was blown out and the torque converter was skipping gears and not shifting right.. Luckily there was a 2 year warranty on it when I bought it.. Took it and had the mount replaced and the converter swapped out.. Now she flys down the road no problems.. Lol. Scares the crap outta ppl too..😉👍 edit: Now my only issue is I don't have power to any of my power ports.. I heard from a few people that they get unhooked because they aren't used.. I discovered this by accident with my 2014 Taurus interceptor. I had to hit my brakes hard to avoid hitting a deer doing 55-65 mph highway speed.When I continued to drive at about 30-40 mph it seemed like it downshifted to first or second gear. I thought my fluid was low or something, but it was at normal capacity. Now I'm glad there's a good explanation and not that the tranny has issues. It works perfectly otherwise
@fusionvic2 жыл бұрын
The activation methodology sounds exactly like the "Performance Shift Mode" on the GM/Chevy versions of the Ford transmissions, and the results are almost exactly the same. Doesn't sound too different from Sport mode either. My Fusion Sport in Sport Mode will revmatch all of the downshifts while braking hard into a corner, keeps the gear around the corner, etc... The SHO and Explorer Sport Modes didn't seem to have the revmatched downshifts as aggressively as the Fusion Sport.

my f 150 has a standard equip sport mode. it holds the gear longer and is speed & load determined: ie, it maintains the gear in which the engine can still rev without blowing it's top & pull at it's most peak ratings..on the highway, 65 mph, if i flatten the pedal it will drop from 6th to 3rd and goes straight to the line and holds it if i back off just enough to hold it there.... no brake pedal required. if i slow to the right speed it drops a gear and will hold it...and if i flatten the pedal again it hits the appropriate gear nearly instantaneously. in other words it upshifts and downshifts to match the speed and load..no brake pedal required...and with no sensible delay... 2016 5.0 l stock extended cab 3.55 diff. it's not a beast but it's hot enough to stick to the bumper of a 395 hp honda civic turning 9600 rpm, from a 30 mph rolling start to 75 mph . not bad for a 5050 lb work truck... and that's with the 3:55..80 mph is where i back off. trucks at high speed are scary..but i think maybe a 2021 f 150 3.5 l eco boost, from a rolling start, could stay with an interceptor for a while in a straight line... i'll try the braking and see if it does the same. i'm thinking it says to the computer that it should assist in braking .. like sport/ track mode....

Isn't this just using the 'sport' mode on the transmission? Can furtherly use manual mode to shift the gears as you want also ?
@todd87813 жыл бұрын
“Pursuit mode” as you call it, can be easily turned on, on ANY Ford by simply using FORScan. I believe it just prevents torque converter lockup. Most cars up shift as you come to a stoplight to prevent wear and tear on the transmission. By enabling this feature, the car will down shift when slowing down. The same premise as you demonstrated.
@turbo2ltr3 жыл бұрын
Sorry but 1: did you even watch the video, and 2: do you know what torque converter lockup is? Why would any car upshift when you come to a stop? It downshifts as you slow down so when you step on the gas it's in an appropriately smooth and comfort-minded gear for the speed you are going. In pursuit mode, it downshifts aggressively to keep the engine in the powerband even if you are decelerating instead of the relatively low RPM just above idle. Nothing to do with TC lockup.

So I have a 2014 3.7 PIU and i’ve had to hit the brakes hard a few times due to stupidity in front of me on the highway a couple times. The only thing is, when I hit the brakes it’s almost like the transmission gets stuck at a certain rpm. I’ll be moving at about 15mph and it sounds the same as if you hit the gas a bit while in Park. It’s just revving unusually high. The only way to make it stop is to hit the gas until the rpm passes the point at which it’s “stuck” and I guess it shifts and continues as normal. What exactly is going on??? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
@turbo2ltr5 жыл бұрын
This is pursuit mode. If you just hold the RPM, it will eventually go back to normal. If you were in a situation where you were driving it hard (like in a pursuit), it would downshift for you keeping the RPMS up so that it's ready for for you to get on the gas again.. Normally if you slow down, the transmission doesn't downshift until you are almost stopped.

So... Police pursuit mode. I use it. In real life. It's sucks. When I need to accelerate it stays in the low gear too long and I can't properly accelerate to catch up to the bad guy. Make the mode manual instead of automatic. I wanna be able to turn that shit on and off as I need it. By the way, the reason you couldn't activate it, it wants you to steer aggressively as well. If you aren't steering aggressively it doesn't work. Yours should have had a little light come on to tell you, you were in pursuit mode (unless it's really old)

lol - pursuit mode! The comical BS that people imagineer about these mundane vehicles, and then attribute to "ooooo, super-cool radical police car sh!t..."

I don't get the cop question? People purchase used police vehicles all the time. I carry a firearm. Do I need to be a cop? No, it's a right. The purpose in most cases the brakes, suspension, engine or better/high performance. So you get factory performance at a better price. It's really not that hard to understand.

@@electroniccheeks yeah but people refuse to Read and dont realize you can get performance for at the cost of creature comforts. I.E. Stiffer body, bigger(MUCH bigger) Brakes, Harder suspension, and a better transmission tune. you just sacrifice, automatic lights, leather/heated seats, carpeting, a center console... well theres a lot. but for people who like to drive, and throw cars around corners hard. Cop Cars offer Excellent options for spirited driving.
