Queer theory is in direct opposition to the heteronormative values of society. It posits the idea that anyone’s sexuality and sexual preferences are just as valid as the oppressive heterosexual ones. It will not stop until every type of sexual preference is ok, these preferences maybe seen by heterosexual oppressors as perversions. Those pushing this theory believe the existing moral values are not inclusive of none heterosexual people and see themselves as agents of change who use the dialect and direct action to normalise all sexual preferences including the sexual love of children, relatives and even animals. These things today are seen as perversions by the oppressive heteronormative society but queer activists believe this current system has to evolve to meet their demands. This dude never mentions any of this. Someone tell me I’m wrong in my summary

That's one thing I've always wondered when I was growing up queer was a derogatory term now it's not why's is queer not a derogatory term now?

It is because words do not have fixed meanings. Words are used. It is just like wicked being used by some young people to suggest something is extremely good, exciting and worth having as opposed to wicked of the bad their parents used it to mean. Words are used to subvert norms or to infiltrate the ideas of others. When a group uses a word to attack a group, the attacked group may seize that word, thus disempowering it. Queer, changed from being an accepted word, to being a pejorative, to then being used as subversion by the abused group. Once accepted it was taken by the public at large as an acceptable term.

Don't arguments about the inadequacies of fixed meanings of gender and sexual identity apply to language as a whole, since it is fluid by nature? I'd also argue that the notion language needs to be absolute in its conciseness and comprehension just doesn't hold much water when we consider that language has always been a heuristic rather than something that perfectly explicates reality metaphysically or epistemically. If we can accept language as a heuristic rather than a perfect explication of reality, then why would the sex and gender binaries all of a sudden become untenable simply for suffering from something language suffers in general?

Because material reality matters in a material world. Change the language all you want, the organism that evolved to produce the small motile gametes is male and the organism that evolved to produce large immotile gametes is female. Everybody agrees language evolves but it does organically and practically as a response to the changing social narrative. But my problem sometimes with this modern gender activism is that they enforce the changes themselves when most dont see the practicality or naturality of it. And like it or not, language and sustainable social policy will bend to the majority. It feels like a king’s sorry attempt to deconstruct poverty as a natural course of human life to his subjects and then wonders why his subjects start to hate him.

I would say posits, and not points out it is a category of knowledge. That statement is really one of the main pillars of queer theory. It is taken as an axiom, not something to prove. It's based on post modernist philosophy, that while having some useful applications, should absolutely not be used as an unquestionable belief.

The law against murder is an artificial construct. Does this umbrella term give paedophiles, necrophiles and bestials a shield to hide behind. My sexuality is not a social construct and is immutable. Why aren't the other letters enough. The idea that you must believe what people SAY they are, unquestionably seems absurd to me. My friend identified as a rabbit (no joke). Her was schizophrenic and now has his life back. If we'd have pandered to it, he'd probably be dead or in a permanent institution by now. Not hating, I just don't see the need for it. Everyone is ok with people doing anything in the bedroom that isnt hurting anyone that doesnt want to be hurt. But giving a shield to predators just will not fly. Please explain because ive never heard a straightforward explanation for it. I'll bet it's mostly for Karrens that want a shield and to pretend for a while, at a gay parade, for instance. The idea that you must believe what people SAY they are: I, thereby ask you why I should believe what you Say you are. See the problem. Let's also blow the candle out on your idea that paedophiles, necrophiles and bestiality hides behind queer theory. There is a big difference between the feelings associated with these practices and the carrying out these practices. There are people who have feelings but do not act on them. Also let's go on to demonstrate how ideas of these ideas have been subject to change in societies. Ancient Japan had Buddhist monks who believed sex with young boys was pure. Buddhists now roundly condemn this practice. The ancient Romans and Greeks thought it noble that they had young male acolytes with whom they had sex. In Central and Eastern Europe sex with the dead was a way of ensuring the dead would live on in the next world. Not anymore! There are temples in India that celebrate sex and they have images on temples that show bestiality as perfectly normal. So times and attitudes do change. I for one, do not think very young children can consent. I am a modern person with modern ideas of the harm it does. But ages of consent vary from place to place. A child in one country is not a child in another. And there is the issue of when the age of consent is 18 and the younger lover is 17, is that the same degree of harm as a 6 year old and a 40 year old? We do blearily draw lines sometimes as to what is an is not acceptable.

What are your reliable sources regarding the greeks and Buddhist monks? For example, Buddhist vows and precepts are more than clear. What you state contradicts these vows...so either you are being disingenuous to push a narrative or you are parroting made up facts to also fit a current narrative some want to push. If a monk abuses a child he clearly breaks these precepts and vows so it has nothing to do with Buddhism and has to do with a child abuser which is just plain wrong and criminal on many levels. ​@maggiefoster6295

Of course words and terms are fuzzy and to some degree mutable, as is sexuality and identity - but to take it this far participates in the same nonsense that religious creationists engage in ("science is just a tool of the powerful," "did you ever see anything evolve?" and "We cannot know anything because we're not God."). It's too extreme. Is a social construct a "social construct," and if so, where did it come from or does it even exist? Come on.

As a gay person, be aware of a cruel form of bullying that can occur in a predominantly heterosexual environment. Women/individuals may try to humiliate a (gay) male about 'inability of performance' with members of the opposite sex (play 'psychological rape' games) - or infer that a (gay) male is making 'unwanted advances' at them. Such bullying can have the effect of displacing an unsuspecting person into another psychological position, branding them a 'failure'. Certain individuals will impose their own agenda of 'political correctness' and use a male to 'play off' on, denying the psychological reality of being 'gay'. Other ploys may include verbally quashing use of modern terminology like 'homophobia'.

Please stop using the slur 'queer' to refer to the gay community. While you have the right to self-identify however you please, you don't have the right to force that slur on the entire community. Don't tell me you are taking back the language, because you aren't. Inviting straight people to use that slur to identify us isn't taking back the language;it is rather normalizing the use of a slur. Also, when you do this,you exclude older gay men who have PTSD incurred during our fight for gay rights and surrounding the use of such slurs to identify us.
