Rangoli is an art form, originating in the Indian subcontinent, in which patterns are created on the floor or the ground using materials such as coloured rice, dry flour, coloured sand or flower petals. It is usually made during Diwali or Tihar, Onam, Pongal and other Hindu festivals in the Indian subcontinent. Designs are passed from one generation to the next, keeping both the art form and the tradition alive.
Design depictions may also vary as they reflect traditions, folklore, and practices that are unique to each area. It is traditionally done by girls or women. Generally, this practice is showcased during occasions such as festivals, auspicious observances, marriage celebrations and other similar milestones and gatherings.

What a beautiful form of art. I would love to teach my American students about rangoli, but don't want to disrespect the Hindu religion or the Indian people. Would it be offensive to teach a simple floral pattern and show this video to explain the cultural and religious importance of rangoli?

i believe that so long as you teach them the history and significance of it(and not for monetary profit), it would be done in good faith and I wouldn't see an issue with it

Are you trying to convert American students to Indian religions? This topic does fall under the category of "Religion" and the video gave a clear example of why Rangoli is used: Marriages, Religious ceremonies, etc. As a American, who may or may not have a student in your class, I object to you teaching, my child/student, religions that I do not approve of and would please ask you to refrain from preaching what you do not know and even if you were to know you are going against school policies in converting the minds of innocent. You are not authorized to preach, in other words.

Actually it is not originated from india actually it is originated in Hindu culture , so you can't indicate only India 🙏
