Romans 2:5 except"...because of your hard and impenitent heart..."
1. There is a natural "hardness" of the heart in every son and daughter of Adam; and there is an 2. acquired habitual hardness, which is increased by sinning; and a
3. judicial one, which God, for sin, sometimes gives persons up unto.
4. An "impenitent heart" is not only an heart which does not repent, but such an one as cannot repent, being harder than the nether millstone. (John Gill)
(1 Samuel 16:7) But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the LORD sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart.”
