I would guess that most profit seeking organizations loathe external and internal accountability as it also clearly defines a target for lawsuits or "disciplinary action including and up to termination" which are typically unprofitable outcomes for all but legal personnel and ladder climbers. Saying all are accountable or none are accountable can be an honest answer, but it can also simply be a tactic to deflect and confuse any future placement of blame. Tactics such as these are survival strategies which become normal behavior in organizational cultures due to highly litigious or competitive environments. Another issue is that using and governing AI responsibly is obviously a better long-term strategy, but substantial short-term profits can be gained from irresponsible AI use which benefits organization personnel and investors with priorities that don't include the long-term health of the current organization.

When I meet people who are looking for the next steps in IT, or are struggling to keep IT / business afloat, I wait a little. When I have the idea that they think I am a serious person.... I tell them this : "You want to know where you want/have to be in 5 years? Look where IBM was 5 years ago". I always have to follow up with "seriously" And in the crazy daze of today, I give them Watson. I do not know if Watson is the best example, but nowadays it gets the point across. And even then, people are very reluctant to accept this notion. 10 years of exciting knowledge / WORKING IT solutions / idea's about other ways you can run your business..... that is a LOT of explaining, if you want to sell it at a premium !! So I salute the person at IBM who is championing these explaining video's. Although very short, I feel like Ms Boinodiris gets her point across. Thank you for taking the time. (( P.S. I do not work for IBM, nor have I financial interests in this company. I have worked for them 20 years ago, so I do have a little insider knowledge ))

Most AI I tried sound like propaganda machine in social and political issues. Truth is inconvenient, and narrative is important.

Holistic approach to AI vs winning the race at all cost. Excellent presentation why holistic approach should be priority, but reality of current economic system is that profit and winning are usually the only things that matter over culture, over ethics, over people.

A fundamental topic for any organization thinking to use AI, before anything is key to have a governance model, controls for a responsible use of the AI, regulations and so on. Any organization has to evaluate if they are already ready to use AI, without a governance model and processes in place, the experience can be awful from my point of view. Also every organization has to determine where is needed to use AI. Regards

Philosophy, social sciences. That's probably what she means by holistic approach. Hope that helps. Cheers
