and dont forget, amps (esp receivers) can put out more power than RMS. RMS is usually at a certain THD level. i learned that the hard way, lol. my 100 watt (rated) Onkyo puts out about 150 watts right before clipping.

120V/.707=170 peakV. Half a sine wave measuring 170 peak volts yields approximately 120 usable volts not to be confused with avg voltage.

I'm working on an audiobook. I have a Steinberg Cubase recording studio. The audiobook publisher states that my sound files are all too low and I need to raise my RMS. I'm not finding any RMS controls in Cubase. Does anyone know where to find these controls so that I can correct my RMS? Are we talking about compressor dB readings?

Which power rating do you use when it say AES power and continuous power then says peak power?

Hello, great question. The AES power rating refers to the average amount of power a speaker can handle over 2 hours or more (similar to RMS but measured using a specific standardized test). Matching an amp to a speaker will depend on the application so it would be best if you give us a call so that a sales engineer can ensure we are getting you the right product for your needs.
