Thank you for the nice video. I have 2 questions: 1) My system is on S4 HANA on-premise. To move to S4 HANA Private Cloud, will it only be an administrative task in terms of license conversion or will it also entail a technical conversion (or migration) from the on-premise version to the private cloud version? 2) Do we have the option of moving only the application servers to the cloud while retaining the S4 HANA database on premise (due to data sovereignty concerns etc.)?

Thank you for your thoughtful questions! Moving from S/4HANA On-Premise to S/4HANA Private Cloud involves both an administrative task (license conversion) and a technical migration. The shift to the private cloud is more than just a license change; it typically requires a system conversion or migration to ensure compatibility with cloud infrastructure and services. This will include adapting your system architecture, data migration, and adjustments to operational processes. Hybrid cloud setups, where application servers are moved to the cloud while keeping the S/4HANA database on-premise, are possible but may require careful configuration and planning. This setup is often done to address data sovereignty concerns. However, the architecture must ensure seamless integration between the cloud-based applications and the on-premise database.

@@zarantechdotcomThank you for the response. Much appreciated. 2 last questions :) 1) Is this migration to S4 HANA Private Cloud done as part of RISE with SAP? Can a system already on S/4 HANA move to the Private Cloud using Rise or Rise is only for SAP ERP systems? 2) As you mentioned that the shift to the private cloud is more than just a license change, does it entail some kind of technical migration using SUM tools etc?

Yes, migration to S/4HANA Private Cloud can be done as part of RISE with SAP. RISE isn't limited to systems running SAP ERP; it also supports businesses already on S/4HANA. So, if you're on S/4HANA On-Premise, you can still leverage RISE to move to the Private Cloud environment. Absolutely, the shift to the Private Cloud involves more than just a license change. It typically requires a technical migration using tools like the Software Update Manager (SUM), along with Database Migration Option (DMO) for moving to the cloud infrastructure. This process helps handle the technical complexities and ensures a smooth migration to the cloud.
