I've really changed my whole flow in the casino after watching and listening to you guys. I used to be the one that would sit down on a machine when someone dumps a bunch in and doesn't win, or see a "Bonus" about to pop and play it thinking it'll hit any minute and get mad when it doesn't. It's good to know none of that matters and now I don't even pay attention to anything other than which machines will give me the best chance to get paid. The brain is a crazy hurtle to adjust to with the new thought process and I'm looking forward to slaying more jackpots! You guys rock!

I don't believe slot machine work off odds like table games, but more payback percentage which doesn't really do much in the short term. Safer bets though are low volatile.

This is the best explanation of slot volatility I've ever heard. I wish I knew this stuff 15-20 years. I used to go on a message board back in the day to see what the popular games were. In hindsight, playing Wicked Winnings was not a great idea lol. I think the newer generation of slot players will find this info very helpful. The biggest thing I've learned from Brantley and Marc is to walk the whole casino floor to see what games the casino has before deciding what to play. Some of the best low volatility machines can be hiding in a deep dark crevice. You guys are awesome! Thanks for the video.

The first machine I ever played was a low volatility $1 slot with single, double, triple bars and 7's only and the "jackpot 777" was for a full $600. Of course I did the equivalent the hard way and hit all triple bars for $300 twice in about five spins, but that's the beauty of low volatility machines. 🤑👍

From listening to these guys The best way to describe volatility is if there’s a 50k jackpot or a 2,500 dollar jackpot for the same denom and same bet amount that the 2,500$ jackpot will pay a player 20 players a 2,500$ jack pot as supposed to a single player getting a 50k jackpot

Well done, thank you. In the most simple terms, In my mind I picture a tumbler and ping pong balls. Mark three balls as “jackpot “and place them in the tumbler. Now I start adding blank balls. The more blank balls I add the higher the volatility because they decrease the likelihood of the jackpot balls being drawn. At least that’s the way I perceive it.

After watching several of your videos and taking notes, my boyfriend and I ventured out once more to Coconut Creek Casino in Florida, but this time with the knowledge of volatility and how to advance from 1 machine to another keeping with low volatility but betting low then higher and coming out WINNERS!!. We started with $100 and played Double Strike, a $1machine betting 3 credits and doubling our winnings, then advancing to Double Diamonds, $1 machine betting $5 and winning $4000 and then advancing to another Triple Double Diamonds and hit 48 free games and won $500!!! Am new to KZbin and gaming videos, and I really have enjoyed the 2,. I have seen. The first one about how to play quarter and dollar machines vindicated the way I play. Since I play mostly classic machines, to try and end up with more than I start with. I will play Dancing Drums for entertainment, not caring about " jackpots", but have a certain amount to loose for entertainment. That said, I have learned to recognize when a classic 3 reel machine is entering it's dead time. Usually I have the means to play through it and the time to do it. I have come to recognize that when certain symbols appear, the dead time is starting. It adds to my entertainment value to guess how long until a hit is made. Have been watching some videos on KZbin, and when the players are begging the machines to give them anything, I usually can tell they will run out of money or just quit before the dead time passes. Thanks for the information, I find it very interesting and informative. PS, took $2000, last week played $1 classic machine 1 at a time, and quarter 5 lines 1 coin per line, at the end of my time, I came home with over $2100. Your method and mine works. This was actually very interesting to listen to and never thought of that during my casino visits. For awhile I had been playing games like Wheel of Fortune and a few other video slots because I was comfortable with it. My family had been warned me that the payout would be terrible on those games and they were right. Lately have had no luck on them but they started introducing me to the old school low volatility slots like Top Dollar & Pinball and surprisingly doing better. My favorite machine is Triple Red hot 777. It's not the lowest in volatility as it has some multipliers and bonus rounds, but I find it quite effective for building a bankroll from a low budget, especially a 25c 5 liner. I try to avoid the ones with the wheel of fortune tho as it requires a higher bet to unlock the feature. Just roll low and patiently. Don't forget to tip your waitress!

My favorite slot machines are white ice and wild cherry. And I do believe both of them are low volatility. And I consistently win or break even on both. My sister plays this flashy shark thing game with this computer generated fish tank above her head. And she loses way more than she has ever won. But because she won real big one time you can't convince her it's a bad bet. Of course I play a little keno here and there because on my 21st a million years ago I put a dollar in a nickel keno machine, Took the light pen out, drew an 8 spot on it, Max bet it (20 cents) and 3 spins later hit all 8 numbers and won 2000 dollars. And 20 minutes later won another 800 on the same machine. But I don't spend more than 20 dollars on keno on any casino visit. EVER! But my sister keeps dumping money into that shark tank. And it makes me sick!

My understanding is that when playing the highly volatile slots you have a much greater chance of losing your bankroll, as the machines will very rarely pay out. However you could once in a while bag a massive win, after which you should definitely stop playing on that machine otherwise it will take all your winnings back. It's probably best to lower your bets significantly on highly volatile slots, cuz that way you can at least play for a longer period. Would that be a correct assumption?

It would be possible to implement almost any game with any desired amount of volatility as long as there was some way for the machine to pay lines or bonuses that are high enough to support the volatility. (Side note: Adding the "Cash Man" feature to older, low volatility games was a way to increase volatility without changing the DNA of the game.) This leads me to wonder if it is really true that machines in use today do not have casino-settable volatility. If not, I can easily imagine that thy will one day.

No. there is no card that can do that. changing odds is a lot more of an in depth process. Employees are often required to put their card in at banks during the day to go on record as being in the area. Does nothing to the game.

When casinos decide whether to buy a machine for "the long haul", how long a time is that? How long do they typically intend to keep a machine? I assume that they have some target amount of money that they expect to make per machine, within some span of time, but I have no idea how quickly they expect to make it. Since the machines themselves are not cheap, they must operate them in the red for a while until they recoup that cost. After that, whatever isn't returned to players is pure profit. It would make sense for casino operators to set the RTP lower until it's paid for, then perhaps kick it up a bit after that. I know this isn't something that they can't just do by pressing a button, but it can be done. And once the machine is paid for, it might make sense to sweeten the RTP a little to keep players interested. Do they do this?

Majority of slots today are contracted and they don’t make traditional payments. The manufacturer receives a percent of coin in. They don’t set odds lower when they are new, purchase or lease. As for how long they keep the machines it depends on the manufacturer lease agreement and if they just directly buy one they plan on keeping it for a long as possible

Soooo, I just started watching this video. I have viewed a couple others that you have online also. You just said something about bingo not being included in this. I play in Eastern Oklahoma and a lot of the casinos are based on bingo cards. Up in the left-hand corner of every spin you will see a bingo card that is filled. Is that what you're talking about? interesting at 13:33 where you compare the 2 machines and the top line is vastly different on the one on the right - the lower hits, though are a lot LOWER on the one on the right than on the left. So is it fair to say the lower line hits are more frequent on the one on the right vs the one on the left? But the top payout is more likely on the one on the left vs. the right? All wins are less common. The pay tables do not include the multiplier wins. It is not 50,000 and then 180, 150, etc. It is 50,000, 25,920 (180*12*12), 21600 (150*12*12), etc. All the these very rare massive wins need to be "balanced" by losing spins. It takes a lot more losing spins to balance out very rare 50,000 and 25,920 credit wins on 12 Times Pay than it does for the rare 6,000 or 4,050 credit wins on Triple Stars.

Technically in that setting would be a little more volatile but you get the trade off of having higher rewarding line hits. Also with lines, when we talk about volatility differences, it's not a drastic change within the same game.
