That's a really interesting perspective. I suppose one could also slow travel in small increments by only visiting one destination and staying there for, say, two weeks. Wishing you both continued fun and safe travels.

When booking accommodations in unfamiliar places, do you investigate the neighborhoods first to make sure you are going to stay in a safe neighborhood or is that unnecessary?

Yes! We read a lot of reviews first and even view the neighborhood with Google maps street view. Plus we research which are recommended areas.

Good info; thank you ! Question: if I am slow traveling through Asia and I download a pdf file onto a thumb drive, are there places in most countries I can then print that file off the thumb drive so I don't have to have a printer with me ? (stupid question, i know!)

We had the same question before we left! Yes there were print places everywhere we went especially in the bigger cities. We often had to print our visas before going to another country.

Hola! Our best advice is to use AirBnB and do searches for accommodations for at least one month. You will see a variety of options that include a one month discount. You can try other sites as well such as Agoda and Booking.com. All can be good ways to see the real prices that will inform your budget.
