I've done some thrilling, physically challenging and dangerous stuff in my 65 years, performance motorcycles, snow mobiles, ice skating on very thin ice, skiing, roller blades, wind surfing, triathlons, bodybuilding, some rock climbing, mountain bikes, just to name a few. But this is on another level. I currently reside in northeast Georgia and I do some hiking, paddle board and kayak, catamaran sailing and open water swimming. The riskiest thing I do now is bike riding up and down these local mountain roads. The up is the workout. The down is the thrill. I've always wanted to try hang gliding or paragliding but I'll leave the proximity stuff to the younger more experienced flyers...What these guys are doing reminds me of wing suit flying. Super cool video.

Good lord! ...N. Georgia is where one of the last, best hang gliding meccas is located. Lookout Mountain Flight Park. Just DO IT!! For a guy in his 60s, you still have time. I'm 69 and live out west in AZ. I don't have the stamina or knees to climb or ski like I used to, so I just started hang gliding again myself.
@digitalreject3233Ай бұрын
@@VTSifuSteve Awesome! I know about Lookout Mountain but have yet to get over there. A former student of mine went there and showed me the video. She did the tandem hang glider tow up. The instructor eventually changed places with her and she took control. Might get over there this coming spring. I want to try both hang gliding and para gliding but I think I might be better suited for para gliding. How's the weather out there in AZ?

I remember talking with other sport riders above San Diego and the wise one's knew there was a level of riding that you needed to stop at and be satisfied with. I enjoyed the hell out of it for about eighteen months without a close call and had reached a comfortable place with my riding. I was rewarded with a lasting boat load of good memories.

For sure truth to this comment. I've come to realise my comfort zone now and have much better self-mitigation measures in place after this accident. I wish it didn't take getting this messed up to learn the lesson but sharing it here is a way to share my free lesson to others in the sport. 🫶

The problem is when you break many bones. You will carry those for the rest of your life and they weigh a lot more when you get older. I had a skydiving accident (broken legs, sacrum in 5 pieces etc.) and 25 surgeries later I’m still here. But boy I so wish I didn’t have that accident. It was a hook turn upon landing when a concrete post decided to get in the way.

100% think that everyone who's had any kind of accident in these sports agrees with this.
