Steven, the Champion of the Hoenn Region, is stronger than we thought. It's time to look at his evolution in the main series Pokémon games and figure out his strongest & best team by looking at all of Steven's Pokemon in the timeline from Hoenn, Unova, and more!
Steven can be battled in Ruby and Sapphire, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, and more, including rematches where he has a mega evolution!
Leading into Pokémon Sword & Shield and Pokemon Masters, it's important to know how strong the trainers we've seen in the series are. We're going to take a look at Gym Leaders, Rivals, Elite 4 Members, Champions, etc. and figure out their TRUE POWER.

Steven is my favorite champion because of his design, his personality, and his development. I like the fact that he became a more accomplished trainer by staying true to himself rather than forcing himself to fulfill his duty. I also just so happen to like a lot of the same Pokémon as he does, although I'm more of a grass type fan overall. Steven doesn't care that over half of the Pokémon he owns aren't really viable, he's using them because they feel right to him.

@@opsyko3310 You know, I usually cringe at my past comments, but I think this one still stands. Aside maybe the part about Steven "not caring about his team not being viable". It's a bit of a silly claim considering that in-game characters wouldn't know which Pokémon are considered "viable" or not in real life. The release of Gen 9 since then certaintly didn't give us a new champion to prove me wrong anyway... And unlike Geeta, Steven is really using his ace Metagross to its fullest potential. It's a terrifying late-battle cleaner, so keeping it for last after your Pokémon are already worn-down from getting through all of his tanky team makes perfect sense.

Metagross, Skarmory and Excadrill alone make Steven's team absolutely deadly, especially if you don't have a fast Fire type. Cradily is a surprising choice for this team but its Rock/Grass typing is very unorthodox and I've seen it throw people for a loop. People often forget what type this thing is. Great job as always, my friend! Why not return to Kanto and cover Erika next?

The Best Possible Team can only be inferred based on Which Region Steven has Been Sighted in The anime and What Generation Those Pokémons was First Introduced and used in these Games. MY Best Guest is from when Steven went Rare Stone 🪨 Hunting at The Granite Cave and Obtained A Fire Stone. He First Mentioned He wanted To use it To Evolve A Growlithe into An Arcanine as He continues to Hunt for The Other Stones, so it's safe to assume He Must Have An Arcanine.

I cannot believe they never gave him Empoleon as well i mean then hed have surfer and flyier on his team he already has a muscle of the Team being Mega Metagross. I Feel he could make use if Aegislash as a False Swiper a pokemon with a role any selfrespecting trainer should have on his team especially high born as Steven. Excadrill in role of rapid spinner he already poseses. Last touch i feell magneton with eviolite and analitic wouls serve him well as he is researcher and he analyzes all kinds of stuff. I feel this team would serve him far better. Its a team not only build to win all sorts if battles but also would help him with all sorts of obstacles and tasks.

I want alot of trainers on this series so I'll just make a list along with how many pokemon each trainer have used Red: 9 pokemon N: 24 pokemon at least (overall in the gen 5 games, hes owned 42 different pokemon, but he released all of them after he battles you, including the legendary dragon in BW2) Blue: technically 19 (his canonicaly starter was charmander so those would be the teams you consider. I did however include all new pokemon he had in pokemon yellow as I dont know which eeveelution he canonicaly has in that game. If someone knows which eeveelution is canon, he has 18 pokemon overall) Sabrina: 15 pokemon Winona: 11 different pokemon Falkner: 13 overall Fantina: 9 pokemon Whitney: 14 pokemon Flannery: 10 overall Maylene: 8 pokemon Lorelai: 7 pokemon Agatha: 8 overall Bruno: 10 overall Koga: 15 overall Eirika: 14 pokemon Blaine: 13 overall Bugsy: 11 overall Janine: 12 pokemon overall Jasmine: 14 pokemon overall Volkner: 12 pokemon Clair: 11 overall Norman: 17 overall Roark: 10 pokemon Pryce: 11 overall Iris: technically 8 Wallace: 12 pokemon Wally: 9 pokemon Cheran: 15 overall (this is including black and white where he had a different starter and elemental monkey depending on which starter you chose. Team update of extreme consequences: For some reason Pokemon Masters gave Steven a mega Rayquaza, and a Deoxys. As he has all forms of Deoxys at his disposal any form could replace any member, but i think defence form would be better for the replacement of Aggron since it's special defense if bad and is slower than defense Deoxys. And obviously Replace who he Megas with Rayquaza, but Metagross can stay. Out of the team it would probably be better to drop Excadrill as it fills the closest role to Rayquaza, but is obviously outclassed. Oh, and I guess cradily can be replaced by Stoutland since it has intimidate meaning it can tank potentially a little better.
