That's interesting - my string algae has only started a month or so after my up-rating my UVC lamp to clump the single cell algae (and adding a simple polywool 'post' filter). I obtained crystal clear water, then after a while this new stringy green stuff has appeared and grows extremely quickly!

The algae being controlled by the UV is now not processing so the blanket weed started to process the nutrients, it’s crazy how you control one and Mother Nature will bring in another plant to process the waste.

Danny Mills Same thing happened with my pond.. UV light got rid of the algae, then string algae took over. Any success with your pond situation?

Yea I get the same problem. The UV will kill the floating algae which allows the stringy stuff to grow. I think the only way to really stop it is either turn the UV off and let the water go a bit green, or add floating plants to create shade. I usually just rip it out with a stick but it regrows quickly. My goldfish like to lay eggs all over it though.

@@BlatentlyFakeName people say goldfish will eat the string algae, well mine are not hungry enough the I guess😂
