The frog song is english. A parody of a french marching song. How it got to be a central pillar of Swedish culture is very strange.

If you drink, you will probably be drunk from 12:00 to way into the night hahah. Where i celebrate, you start out with a small breakfast, then lunch at 12:00 ( drinking starts) after that we have all kinds of activities for both children and adults that goes on for hours. Since its a stationed camping every part of the camping finalizes the celebration with a competition against each other, its so funny to watch hahah. After that its dinner and the normal dansband music with older people dancing into the night :) The Camping is called Finkarudds camping, hopefully next year will continue to be awesome like every other year, there is a house that can be rented if anyone is interested, its always rented during midsummer so you know :P

The song, "Små grodorna" is actually originally a French song, "La Chanson de l'Oignon" ("The Onion Song"), from the French Revolution. The British changed the text with condescending irony to "Au pas, grenouilles!" ("In step, little frogs"). (From memory/Wikipedia) kzbin.info/www/bejne/j3aaYZ2onbSloM0

The aquavit on in the image is OP Andersson. It’s Swedish made, from Gothenburg, and has been around since 1891, which makes it the oldest snaps still in production. It’s oak aged and is mainly spiced with fennel, caraway and anise.

@@Jonsson474 Correct, OP is Swedish, and one of the better ones ... but, I have to admit it ... Aalborg is even better, even if it’s... Danish!😬 Third on my list is Skåne and 4th Östgöta Sädesbrännvin. I should be ashamed because I’m a Öschöte, but fair is fair and if one lies, one doesn’t get into heaven!😇😉

It's a couple of months since you made the film but if you still haven't found out: It's a fertility rite. Still works, most babies are born in march in sweden and are called midsummer children. The bar used to be much lower... The church tried to get rid of the old festivities since thay have nothing to do with christianity but failed. So some smart dude raised the bar so it looks like a cross instead. Problem solved. A similar thing happened with christmas. That was a totally different festivity celebrated by the romans. The church didn't celebrate the birth of Christ and since no one knows when Christ was born, they could put a celebration there. Problem solved. That festivity then spread to large parts of the world. Christmas here is a mix of that festivity and Jul. Traditions change! Santa Claus, or as we call him here: the christmas gnome (Jultomten) is a fairly new invention. Before that we had, and still have, a goat. The most famous is the goat in Gävle. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G%C3%A4vle_goat

Små grodorna is originaly a french military march. It was probably brought to Sweden by british mercenarys during the Napoleonic wars. www.dn.se/nyheter/sverige/sma-grodorna-ar-egentligen-en-fransk-militarmarsch/ P.S keep up the good work M8.

Speak for yourself. Not everyone, DRUNK isn't a necessity. It is possible to drink, but not that much, you know 😉 😂! 🍷🍾🥃🥂🍹(🍺 ) I hate beer😣! Gin and Tonic is the best a hot day👍. Give me wine with the food (or MUST! 😁 On the Swedish Holidays; Julmust, Påskmust whichever! And I can actually have a little beer in the Must, to round off the sweetness. I save some bottles from Easter for Midsummer. Must is also a perfect alternative to beer with crayfish or surströmming! 😁) A smooth Bourbon later will be fine, thank you. 😍 As you see, I'm not an uptight, rigid old time free church school teacher, but I have grown pass that stage when you have to be one beer from passing out all day. 🙄 💕

@annabackman30283 жыл бұрын
@@Nekotaku_TV You're sure? Of course I'm aware of that possibility, In this place not a very funny one though. A lot of people are genuinly surprised by that most people don't live like that. Especially foreigners who have heard all stories about drunk Swedes, or seen them on vacation. But also younger Swedes, mostly guys (15-25-ish) who live their own little lives, in their own little bubbles, not paying much attention to the rest of the society. They also often express pure disdain to, what they believe are the few, who don't get pissed every weekend and Holiday. Oh, yes. I have met them through the years. In the seventies, eighties, every now and then up to today. 🙄 They are loud, and good at pushing the rumor around. The fact that Swedes of every age "enjoy" the relatively low prices on alcohol (except for Norway) and often are by far much more drunk than the English and Germans together doesn't disprove the opinions that Swedes in general are heavy drinkers. I think that what many people are fed about us Swedes isn't the whole truth. I wanted to expose that side too. 😃 Note: I didn't say that all young guys are like them I described. Far from. But, as I said, that group is loud. Both literally and in comments, written and spoken.
