I'm finishing up high school and am currently in a college level statistics class, and all you had to do to find the odds of getting a weapon from any given enemy was add the probabilities of getting the different weapons you can from a present to get the probability of getting any weapon from the present and then multiply that probability by the probability of getting a present in the first place. You made it way more complicated by essentially recalculating values that were already given to you from the wiki as far as I can tell.

Also, just wanted to add that I don't believe that they are dependent events (I could be wrong about this though) because a dependent event is an event whose probability changes when the event it's dependent upon occurs, but in this case, the probability of getting a weapon from a present doesn't change when you get the present. It's a bit confusing because obviously you can't get the weapon without the present, but even if you have 0 presents, the game doesn't change the odds of getting a weapon from one. Maybe I explained that in a strange or confusing way, but all that is to say that those 2 events are not dependent.

Halloween is best for me because pumpkins just spawn in the world. You can get early pumpkin armour and make near infinite amount of pumpkin pies for the well fed buff throughout the entire play-through. Especially when I was playing getfixedboi I happened to play it in Halloween and my early game was saved from starvation by those pumpkins

Another upload from Throarbin epic, tbh I always find these season events pretty exciting, it's nice how Terraria adds cool exclusive content for Christmas and Halloween, sad that Frost Legion doesn't get much love. I think it would be cool if there was a Halloween equivalent to the Frost Legion too, and if there were things for Easter like there was on mobile.

Halloween is more fun mechanically, what with the early mobility outclassing xmas' equivalents, the pumpkin moon not being overwhelming, the themeing on point, and the abundant free pumpkins if you start the world in the season. It also wins in vanity specifically, what with all the costumes, not just for the player. Meanwhile, xmas has more goodies to go after, with candy cane and pine tree blocks being great, abundant, good-looking blocks for housing and scaffolding. (no need to spend excess time mining beyond the hellavator if you have candy cane blocks to work with for your hell bridge. XD) What it offers mechanically falls off quite a bit, though. Outside of the very niche utility of farming infinite snow, the unique invasion event is only a roadblock to the decorational depths of the holiday event, and frost moon is much harder to work with overall while, admittedly just my own opinion, i dont find the designs or the aesthetics of the frost moon as interesting.

The thing is Christmas has an event summoned only during Christmas. (Frost Legion) Pumpkin Moon isn’t a specially Halloween event, the medallion can be crafted without actually mining pumpkins. Just some Shimmer transmutation (Cactus to Pumpkin)

For the record I have never once gotten a bladed glove in 500+ hours of terraria while in most of my Christmas worlds I have every weapon before hard mode (I even have still a few before a boss)

haloween wins since more vanity items, finding cool vanity combinations is so much fun, and while christmas may have more themed around it, i think that really doesnt outbenefit the haloween

I gotta say between the two with their pros and cons, a lot of it (in my opinion) is for the most part early game focused, which I have nothing against. That being said though I would Christmas wins overall, but I still have a special spot for the pumpkin pie as it is very easy to make and last a long time to give a little boost which is quite helpful early game. Also I basically never play summoner as I general pick ranger.

i get why you say that, but it also completely invalidates the hidden feature of the moon events. Beating wave 15 in either will force the corresponding season to kick into effect for 1 full in-game day. With that in mind, you kind of already get your wish, it is just a perspective you missed; they ARE seasonal, but they TRIGGER the season instead of being dependent on the season to trigger. not every player is going to be able to play during the holidays, and a ~360 day wait for your next chance is pretty extreme. The moons let players experience those seasonal events without calendar restrictions, but keep the window open so briefly that you have to keep refreshing the lingering holiday spirit or go out of your way to farm the specific benefits you wanted the season for to begin with.
