Is it true that ithere are 2 McMohan lines-one as agreed by the Tibetan side , and a different one was published by the British in typical colonial skullduggery? One idea: Develop the disputed area as a solar park , and store the hydrogen energy in the form of Ammonia? China and India can both keep 50% of the revenue from the Renewable Energy park which could be located in Aksai Chin. India can also allow China to invest in some infrastructure projects in a way that is not debt laden.

Sir, at 8:22 you put out that the 1959 claim line was in exchange for the macmohan line. So for the future where shall we make a stronger stand. Macmohan line is much more unfeasible today than agreeing to this 1959 claim line that is disadvantagous to us.

China's southernmost territory is Hainan. The 9-dash line claim is not based on history -- as your government claimed -- but on an expansionist agenda. There were no proofs that China took control of the entire SCS, especially the Spratleys. Not even historical records. There are maps dating as far back as the Song Dynasty showing China's southernmost territory is Hainan and not the Spratleys. If you think I'm lying, I can share you those maps. Your communist government is lying through their noses that the Spratley belongs to China.

General Panag, I have been a fan since I first saw you in Central Command back in 2008. With respect i disagree about the views on Nation Security Policy, it's rudimentary and naive to declare one's security policies, keeping it unknown has its own advantages. No first use of Nucs and shift to on ground retaliation from the former verbal kadi ninda is known. Also declaration of policy and failing to follow it shows poor optics. And I am shocked to hear you say that our forces are directionless, wasn't it part of your job too when you were an Army commander?
@surajbiradar9827
@surajbiradar9827 Жыл бұрын
1) Almost every major nation in the world has an unclassified national security strategy. You don't need to spill out all secret info on the public domain. That's how things work in most countries, Are they stupid in doing so? 2) By not having a formal NSS you are doing disservice to yourself. How can you work without having a goal. For eg. If I want to eat a mango, I need to have the money to buy it in the first place. If I don't have the money I may have to think of borrowing from others. Or in the best case scenario find a tree and pick a mango from that tree free of cost. If you set realistic and necessary goals then you can find ways to achieve it. -If you don't plan on sending your military overseas, then you don't need to invest in expeditionary capability. - If you don't need to land on beaches, there is no point in having amphibious capabilities. - If your NSS needs you to control the seas you absolutely need carrier strike group. But if you can't afford to have a CBG so you adopt a sea denial strategy then you should build a A2AD complex. Equipment and weapons flow from capabilities and capabilities flow from the strategy. 3) its interesting that you mention nukes. Because we have a clear policy of nuclear weapon. And all of our capabilities are built around that. That's the point I am making. 4) "Also declaration of policy and failing to follow it shows poor optics" This is exactly why our politicians don't want accountability. It's like having a race with no clear end line, in this case anyone can declare victory anywhere anytime without making any effort.

@@surajbiradar9827 nice, just one question - What makes you think that our Defence forces don't already have one which has not been declared. The goal is loud and clear, always has been within the forces. It's naive to think that our massive forces could operate so seamlessly without the desired policy or clarity. I mean if you still want to put out a document to the world because other countries are doing it.... 😂😂 And you really think that a policy document will make a political govt more accountable, any evidence to support this or I assume this is wishful thinking 🤔

@@omraul7819 Because General Narawane our former army chief has stated this in an recent article about the lack of NSS. This is not some out of the air rumour. And our military currently has a functional strategy that's what general panag has mentioned did you not listen?. But NSS is not just about the military, it's about economics, resources, foreign policy etc. you can look at our military acquisition programs, they are so hodgepodge due to lack of clear vision and commitment. You are just in denial at this time mate. Our entire government runs on documented strategies. How do you think the government follows foreign policies like look east or act east?

@@surajbiradar9827 lol, matlab Jo aaya Mann mein tape Diya 😂😂 I did listen to the Gens and their wisdom, they did mention about the document but there is no claim that the procurement woes are attributed to the lack of it, because it's not, a seperate paper can be written about the issues affecting procurement. In my wisdom I see no value in public declaration of national security policy, its nothing short of a sham, no Country in their right mind would give out the real policy, at best it's use would be to mislead or manipulate. Each dept in the Govt should have their long term work cut out, and only the NSA collates the bigger picture, info flows on need to know basis only and objectives should be met. For discussion sake, let's take a hypothetical situation of annexing POK territories, now should such a thing be part of some National security policy document out in public, or the document completely omits it but acts on the contrary, how does the optics look? Declared and stated positions entail that either the position becomes static or any change will bring negative flak, whereas if the positions are undeclared, it's much easier to act according to the situation and without the prejudice of stated position. God knows if this makes any sense to you, but if it doesn't I recommend you to also read Sun Tzu's art of war, maybe kuch samajh aaye.

Excellent tour de force of India-China standoff by General Panag. However, why did we pull back from the brilliant strike on th Kailash Range, even if the Chinese pressurised us to accept certain give-and-take in Ladakh. We could not compel the Chinese to pull back from our critical loss the Depsang Heights. Overall, we ended up with more loss than gain. I agree with Panag that for the foreseeable future we need to adopt strategic restraint while staying firm at the Line that we are holding to prevent China to make any further gains. Remember, China is not going to let tranquility prevail in the NE nor Ladakh. We must remain fully vigilant all along our borders.

1. To describe him in a decent manner, General is a 'naughty boy' ! It is not India-China who have reached stalemate but it is the Gen himself who is now stalemated for his outpouring against Modi Govt since Dokhlam - Galwan days! Anyway, he has provided a short, non political but clear historical overview of the developments in Ladakh and Arunachal border since 1950s. And as he says we are indeed at a stalemate now where the future is uncertain and will depend on how scenarios evolve. 3.Gen is on the spot about National Security Doctrine and we need it badly. Whatever be the reasons for not having it so far, we should have it now. Hope Modi Govt announces it before 2024. BTW, why Gen does not spell out his version of our national defense doctrine and strategy? That may be good starting point for debate. 4. Gen seems to have changed his tracks and is now well positioned to join the national mainstream of security analysts and be out of narrow, anti India confines of The Wire, The Print etc. 5. Such caustic comments apart, Gen Parag has covered Indo-China issues in a balanced manner and deserves all the kudos! Thanks General!

@@surajbiradar9827 acc to Panag Chinese aggression began when India concluded the N agreement with the US & simultaneously started upgrading our border infrastructure around 2008. I distinctly recall reading news reports on China grabbing some minor territory in the Ladakh sector during the Kargil war when for obvious reasons the troops on the LAC were thinned out. Secondly why did we suddenly decide to upgrade our infrastructure & build new ones ? Wasn't it in response to what the Chinese were doing in Tibet & Xinjiang from 2000 onwards . This is exactly what the poster you're posting ad hominem's about was referring to as Panag's MO aka Modus operandi though he's toned it down several notches. As far as great leader & all those childish jibes go apart from in & before 1962 around 2012-13 IIRC , Shyam Saran ex FS & Chairman NSAB went on record to declare in public in an article India'd ceded control of some 1000-1500 sq kms of land in Ladakh since 1999-2000 , the article since taken down.

However, India failed to mention that the MacMohan line in the north east was agreed to by then legitimate Tibetan government and the the British Raj mentioned in the Simla agreement of 1914. This current border crisis between India and China is the result of both nations not focusing on the Huge elephant in the room, i.e. Tibet!

Tibet was not a sovereign nation as you might assume in the current politics. Tibet was self-governed but China had the dominance over it as Tibet had been paying tribute to the Chinese emperor for centuries.

MacMohan line was forced on Tibet by British. It's a line on paper without having much idea about the ground realities. Besides, China never agreed to the MacMohan line.

@tytxlx6503 I was trying to say that China didn't rejected the Macmohan line just because British forced it on them, otherwise similar arguments would have been on the Mayanmar side also. & Talking about privilege, if India then was unable to make the valid argument for their demand & claim which the Chinese would understand & agree just like they did in case of Mayanmar, then it was India's problem, & I'm not denying that. Similarly if current Indian establishment isn't giving in to Chinese demand of new claim line & continuing the stand-off on the previously agreed claim line then it's China's problem, & no one should deny that too.

Fascinating informed opinion. It is interesting on so many levels but as per the general, the offensive manoeuvres by China along the LAC in Eastern Ladakh happened because of a) Border infra work close to LAC at a rapid pace since 2014, b) India's aggressive posturing on Doklam and c) India's re-engagement on QUAD. It was done to send India a stern message that embarrasses India/Modi and strategically coerce India into shifting away from QUAD or any kind of alliance. BUT it has actually done the opposite. While short of a military alliance, India now sees itself more and more aligned with US and QUAD. It's developing roads and infra at a even rapid pace along borders. Contrary to what China expected which was for India to submit and surrender to China's actions, India's troop build-up along Eastern Ladakh has actually prevented China from nibbling any territory further and ensured a sort of a stalemate. My interpretation is that a) May be China has got this wrong strategically after all. and b) After the political mistake of not taking the initial troop build-up from China seriously and acting soon enough on initial military intel, Modi government seems to be on a mission. It does not want to get caught again while also sending a message to China it cannot be bullied.

Of course the people asked for present scenario & the answer was correct for that scenario, "neither anyone entered, not anyone is occupying anything (after 1962 ofcourse)". But to understand that you need context, not an ill-edited video clip.

In short, we have lost the adv which we had before. Secondly, PLA has come inside our claimline and made bufferzones inside our claimline. Finally, we are now left with only one option: accept & formalise the chinese claimline of 1959 in return for peace along other parts of LAC

Which adv are you talking about? I remember in 90s people would cry in same manner about western Kashmir (PoK), now see the tide has changed. @@gurusastropalmistry2214 Babu i have served on the line so I know for a fact that these areas were not occupied and both sides patrolled, so no side can claim terrain adv. However the Chinese built on the connectivity and infrastructure of these areas and subsequently force deployment came in. The present Govt did the best they could to pump up infra and force levels in the short time they had. Ever wondered why it took bloody 70 years to get decent roads in the country, the same incompetence and corruption put us years behind China. We are now playing catch up. So chill and stop sweating about it while sitting in the comfort of your home. The present Govt and our armed forces have shown that they are prepared to take on these challenges.

@@omraul7819 Since you have served in those areas, you are directly contradicting Gen Panag! Go through the video once more and listen to him about the "Terrain Advantage". Maybe you should write to the Print informing them that Mr. Panag is "factually incorrect". Regarding the infra along these areas, the work had started way back in 2006-07. It was after the PLA incursions that we speeded up. The reasons for PLA's incursions are due to political blunders by the present govt. That is a wider topic. However, since you have "served" in these areas, you might very know that India has lost control over 26 out of 65 posts. If you think that this info is fabricated, then pls refer to the SSP Ladakh's report that was posted in the IPS officers' conf in 2022. Note: day before y'day, times of india article also reported the same. No one from Modi govt has issued any rebuttal. Now that you have seem to have excellent knowledge of this area, and fortunately, I am a GIS expert, we can discuss each and every point threadbare. Lets start with access roads to DBO (Daulat Beg oldie) post. We have lost the strategic advantage that we had due to DBO because PLA's artillery is within 9 kms of this post. Since you have served in this area, you ll know the strategic imp of this DBO. Hope you can come up with more ground info that I cannot get from my satellite imagery that I processed

@Tyt XlxWill you share your wife and house with your neighbor? Like why not?It perfectly fits your communist way of life doesn't it? Why have separate wives, families or houses? You can save money by sharing one wife with your neighbor. You have separate families because you want to have 'your own separate family', and you want to live with them in your own house. And not because you hate your neighbor. It's that simple!!! An example of California and texas?? Like seriously? California and Texas joined the US because they were settled and controlled by anglo americans. Did you miss this history? Why didn't you use a more common example of France accepting German rule? Because it doesn't help your argument. India doesn't want to 'join' China because maybe India doesn't want to be a slave, or it doesn't want to be under communist dictatorship where you can't even make a joke on winnie the pooh, because indians are a different civilisation for 1000's of years. India is building Infrastructure and economy on its own, it doesn't need to dissolve into China to achieve these things. Two sovereign nations can coexist without fighting and one nation isn't required to disappear to satisfy the ego of another nation. What a bullcrap argument..!!!

The place India calls Arunachal Pradesh was only renamed in 1987 from North-East Frontier Agency. A very Indian sounding name is it not?😂. The fact is, the place was known as southern Tibet for centuries. The Dalai Lama was even born in Tawang and the place is historically Tibetan. The place was a land grab by the British and name nothing of significance (North-East Frontier Agency) and now India has come up with a fake name (Arunachal Pradesh) in 1987 to justify the land grab. Look at any map of the mughal empire and Askin Chin or Tawang were NEVER part of India. The border always ended at the foothills of the Himalayan mountains.
