ES rarely moves 10 points in one direction without a huge pullback of 4 points or more RR ratio depends on the market you are trading Sometimes you will be lucky to get one point out of ES before it hits your 4 or 5-point stop

That's true. If you get the direction wrong, your stop will get hit. This is just an example, I do vary my stop / take profit depending on volatility. I often trade 3/5 or 3/6 or even 3/4.5 on the ES. The most important about this, is not the number of points. It's the ratio of reward to risk.

There's also trader Oliver whose win rate is 70%+ and risk-to-reward ratio is 1:3+.
