What is the actual reality of B.A. (Hons) Economics? | Study with Simran

Hello everyone,
I hope you find the video helpful. I am graduated in B.A. (Hons) Economics from University of Delhi. I had Commerce with maths in XIIth and so whatever I share is from my personal experience as I have a little bit of knowledge about Commerce and Humanities related courses.
DISCLAIMER**
I didn't meant to scare anyone I love economics and maths and that's why I am pursuing it further but reality will be different from school so instead of regretting it after, think before.

this video is right to some extent but I don't want anyone to feel discouraged about taking economics. As a student of 6th sem I would say ....it does contain Maths comprising of integration, differentiation, graphs, etc but it is not that hectic as a subject. One thing I want to convey that 'Economics as a subject will teach you how to face problems in life and also how to solve them' All the subjects are tough, economics is one of them with topics which will be required for the rest of your life.

@@bunu882 it's a course heavy on math and statistics. All econ courses r math intensive y'know like Bsc, Bcom econ etc. Try to do a bridge course or extra classes on 12th ka math before u start the program so u can catch up easily

As the basics should be on point... and about satywati college..it is a decent college and in my belief when it comes to DU its the course that matters more than the college. So, go for it

Hey, No need to worry about it. There are plenty of options available like MBE, MBA, Journalism in Economics, Stock Exchange, Indian economics services, IAS, etc... Mam is it worth it to do economics hons from bhu . As I got 92% in 12 and 87 in maths ( specially ) I was from humanities but maths And economics were there .My first preference is DU but with this score I can't expect my admission . is it that difficult ?

I cannot specifically tell you about bhu because I don't have any experience about it. But I would just say that if you are ready to give the hardwork and truly love maths, fo for it. But if you don't want to do it further maybe go for MBA or something else which requires less numbers...you can do it with less hardwork as well. But again do look for ranking of bhu because that thing sometimes matter in CV.

Readings provided by the college are more than enough and if you are not able to get from the college contact...dse (delhi school economics bookshop) you can get the number from Google, get it from there. If you are through with your course from starting then you won't need any, also, taking tutions in college is a big commitment and classes will become super hectic once you will enroll, so avoid it as much as possible.... Hey! First of all whether it's BSc. Economics hons or B.A. economics hons, maths as a subject in 12th is compulsory. So, if you have not studied maths in 11th and 12th you can't take the subject. Also, BSc. Economics hons is more practical than b.a. economics hons as it is a science course so, there will be learning of softwares and other science subjects. So, people of science stream can only pursue this. As far as I know, Bsc hons has more practically approach than the ba Hons

BSc eco is more practical which means it will teach you everything you study on software and in ba eco you have to do an additional 6 months course for it. But after graduating in both courses one can do msc economics

Need some advice. I had six subjects in my 12th-grade CBSE exams: Maths, Physics, Biology, Chemistry, English, and Physical Education. I failed in Maths (scoring only 12 out of 100). At that time, I wanted to pursue a medical career, so I didn’t retake the Maths exam, especially since I did well in my other subjects. However, now I’m looking to pursue a field like Economics, and that old Maths failure is limiting my options. Specifically, Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) offers an Economics Honours program and requires Maths as a mandatory subject in 12th grade. Is there any way I can still get through this? How can I reapply for the Maths exam with CBSE after such a long gap? Are there specific criteria or processes I need to follow? If anyone knows how to navigate this or has any advice, I’d really appreciate your input. Thanks a lot!

LSR looks upon only on CUET marks i guess I think you only have to state that whether you had maths in your 11th and 12th Economics maths is not based upon core maths I mean it does not need that trigo stuff and all It just only needs the basics It's more like a applied maths I hope I helped you

Hey! Ik waht are talking about...but to prepare for entrance the best way is to look for syllabus first then start with syllabus of all semesters of your bachelor's subject wise. Hey B.a. economics hons: anyone from any stream can do referring to the guidelines, the course is more theoretical B.sc. economics hons: only students from science stream can pursue and is more practical Although, Maths in 12th is compulsory for both the courses If you found this helpful do subscribe 😊

See...BSc will involve science subjects as well so, if you want to do look at the syllabus available on the university's website and if you think you enjoy and can do those subjects go for it. There is nothing easy or difficult when it comes to pursuing a degree.

I'm confused between economics honours and english honours... I like reading novels but when I viewed the English honours curriculum I noticed there's a lot of drama and classical poetry etc which doesn't interest me . So then I thought of econ honours . I know there's a lot of maths and personally speaking I'm average in maths . A lot of people are saying that in economics honours I'll get to experience real life problems in business world etc. And have far advantages in getting jobs while doing MBA etc. I am so confused right now as I've already dropped 2 years for medical entrance. I can't drop any more year . Is economics interesting subject while doing graduation or is it boring?

Maths is the key for economics hons and if your are average in it you can still do it depending on how much effort you are willing to put in and what you want to do further. Like if you are planning to do MBA you can do it as if you are getting average or maybe below average marks in grad it doesn't effect your CAT score. And there are a lot tutions available f the same. Definitely, maths ho rahi h toh eco hons araam se ho jayega...bas jaise abhi 11th and 12th mai mehnat kari h...aisa grad mai bhi karna as most colleges in DU don't teach and it is going online abhi toh....also if you look out for private options you don't need to worry at all....they will teach in there best capacity. Yes, you can. Previously, there were different guidelines if a person is switching streams but as this time there will be an entrance test and nothing clearly is mentioned by DU so you need to checkout that. Economics is not the basic criteria for eco hons so, yes, you can do it. But maths is something you really have to enjoy or if not enjoy be this much good to get reasonable grades. So decide accordingly.
