I first heard the Armenian duduk at the Temple of Garni in Central #Armenia. Amidst the columns of this iconic first century structure, I encountered a man playing the instrument that has been described as the symbol of Armenian identity, soul and history.
I had the privilege of learning about the Armenian Duduk from Arsen Petrosyan, an Armenian Duduk master who is the instrument's greatest ambassador, bringing its haunting sound to stages and music lovers around the world.
The origins of the Armenian duduk date back almost 1500 years, yet for centuries it was little-known outside Armenia. Today, thanks to Arsen's talent and passion for sharing his love of this ancient instrument, the Duduk's soulful sound is increasingly a part of popular consciousness.
Arsen was interviewed in 2018. For more on Arsen, visit his website: www.arsenpetro...
