There was a big push for AI way better than Microsofts default, that AI got adopted into the HD AI back in 2010-2012 Then more advancements, that went into definitive, and now we're here!

Would have been interesting to have a co caster who is familiar with aoe AI scripting and the aoe ai scripting scene. I'm sure we are missing out a bunch of details from the matches that people who aren't familiar won't notice

Just tried Immortal vs Extreme DE. It's so funny honestly how Immortal just toys against the Extreme DE with just groups of skirmishers everywhere _(after the initial scout rush ofc)_ 🤣 As someone who's struggling vs Extreme DE, seeing some measly skirmishers be it's undoing was so funny 🤣 TheViper, tbh, your thumbnail made me almost skip this video because it didn't look like AoE2 thumbnail - I just so happen to notice the channel name. Just a friendly feedback.

I feel like you'd just have those who immediately know to counter the specific AIs dropping their ELO so they'd be an unfair challenge that lower ranked players deal with

i strongly disagree. Just let people play against it if they wish. Otherwise it looks like cheating, especially the archer micro

@@lazthegreat10 A simple option: "I don't like ladder-games vs AI" and nobody is forced to play. Assume there would still be enough people who don't mind the AI

It's seeming like Immortal is the better overall AI, given consistent winning until the grand final and the fact that it can play many civs and doesn't have excessive complaints about opposing walls and towers. Rehoboam is very good still, with that insane archer micro but again, one trick pony with a pocket build too, but only 2-3 civs makes it very limited to be countered by some styles and seems quite abusable.

Pretty sure the purple player bugging out in the second game was caused by the positioning for the archery range and the future TC: the intent was to add a mining camp but couldn't find room for it while still leaving space for the TC in castle

it would be incredibly fun to have a game mode where exo is controlled by an ai and army control was all player input. you could still override ai to control villagers but it would be like watered down age so we can all micro army and have a fun casual format

I think AI team games would be even more interesting if it was AIs developed by diferent people, teamming together against another team of AIs, for example reho teams up with immortal and needs to communicate what its doing

Just curious when we will start to learn meta from AI like in chess. Obviously AI micro is incomparable to humun micro. But surely AI will be able to optimise build orders, walling, unit composition etc for us?

It's not really an AI. It's just a computer following instructions of what to do written by a scripter. The AI doesn't "think" for itself or innovate new strategies. It just does what it's been told to do. The build orders it follows have been programmed by a human. For example, At the start of the game - build two houses When house are built - herd sheep

Good question about the AI detecting what you do, I've found vs. DE AI even on hard if I delete one of my walls that enemy couldn't see, they start charging when that happens anyway

No updates during the final round. The change in outcome was due to the civs that Immortal was given.

What TheMaximalBeing said. Additionally Reho was fairly unlucky in the semifinal where the first 3 games were decided by some rare scouting bugs which Reho didn't experience in the final.
