Rockwool is up there in price too. I always thought heat exchangers were gimmicks. A hvac guy explained why they are used with spray foam to remove moisture from the home. And to provide fresh air for stove vents, bathroom vents, and fireplaces.

Running those stove vents and bathroom vents can also help cycle in fresh air after foam has been installed.

Hi… I live in south florida and need to add an insulation to the growling area of the ceiling. There is not Much space in the attic…. Would you recommend the spray foam or a bedding insulation?… what R would you recommend?… I see from 15 to 30 rating? Tia🌸

There are pros and cons to each. I talk about those in this video here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bXTYYaSqmpabqNk

I had someone tell me they wanted to seal off the soffits, by installing ridged foam, before the installed spray foam. Is this affective? Does it save money - as that person thought it would?

Yes, this is effective and can help save money.

Hi. I had my roof insulated with spray foam. My ac is in the attic and now it is sweating. What do I need to do?
@RetroFoamofMichigan26 күн бұрын
Hi there! A little condensation on your AC is normal, but if it’s sweating a lot, try lowering the humidity in the attic by adding a dehumidifier. You can also wrap the ducts with insulation to keep warm air away from the cool metal. Let us know if you have any other questions! We're always happy to answer.

My attic floor has blown in insulation. If I get the attic ceiling insulated with spray foam, does the blown in insulation on the attic floor have to be removed?
@RetroFoamofMichigan4 жыл бұрын
We always recommend removing the old insulation. It's no longer needed with the spray foam and it interferes with what you want the spray foam to do. Not to mention it likely has trapped allergens and dust inside of it that can be circulated throughout the home.

@@RetroFoamofMichigan I live in the Northeast and I'm having spray foam added to the ceiling in a few weeks. They are applying 4" open cell spray foam on the attic gable walls (depth is 2x6 RV 15) and applying 10" open cell on attic roof rafters (depth is 2x10 RV 38). Does this sound like an acceptable plan? Thank you

@@mj9625 Yes, that sounds like a great plan.
