What is the Best Bedding for Guinea Pigs? Bedding Battle!

This is such a great breakdown! I absolutely love my fleece and so glad I went with that from the get go (well… one week in. Had to wait for my sewing machine to ship). Paper bedding was a PAIN during that week! Thankfully my piggies utilize their litter boxes well and have fairly large cages so wash day every 6-8 days works perfectly for us. But they have extras ready in case it’s a busy wheek :)

I know this video is (im pretty sure😅) based in the UK but here in the US or I believe many states here wood pellets are actually SUPER SUPER SUPER cheap!! I know prices vary but where I live you can get a 50 pound bag for $5.99! I use it for my bunnies litter box!and I've tried quite a few different things such as paper based bedding (care fresh and kaytee clean and cozy) and aspen shavings from nightangel and I've found the best smelling, cheapest, lasts me the longest, and most absorbent of them is wood stove pellets from Tractor Supply!! defiantly recommend if you have a tractor supply near you!!! 😁

I love to use fleece but then have a litter tray I find its the easiest way to keep the piggies clean!

Thanks Sam-that was a useful and fun video. I have seven indoor girl piggies in an 8 ft by 4 ft open topped wooden cage with a C&C 4x3 extension dining room/play room. I use fleece liners throughout (lots of washing as you can imagine!!) x Jemma :-)

Our cages come with a coroplast base which the fleece liners lay on top of. 🐹 You shouldn't need anything under your fleece liners, if any liquid goes through to the underneath of the liner, its time to change it ❤️

yes just make sure no part of the pads are exposed because the pads contain a toxic material that can severely harm your guinea pigs if they eat it

Thank you for your question! Straw is not recommended for guinea pig bedding as it is considered too sharp for their delicate foot pads, and may cause hay stick injuries to their eyes. As an alternative, kiln dried/dust extracted wood shavings, or fleece would be a safer alternative!

I use fleece liners But, Would puppy pads be fine to put under the liners to add extra protection to the coroplast? Also, I have the 5x2 c&c cage from kavee and I loveeee it and so do my guineas! :)
