What is the best bourbon to use with vanilla extract? Can you also use whiskey or moonshine?

Have you tried Knob Creek Bourbon Whiskey? I just created one with Tahitian/ Madagascar beans plus one Vanuatu bean and plan to wait up to 3 years. I'm not a drinker, so was choosing based on its profile. Planning on adding Mexican to the mix to round it out.

We actually just opened a Knob Creek extract and it's lovely! I think it will be ready in 18 months, but if you choose to wait 3 years it will be fantastic, I'm sure. Have fun! :)

Yes - we did make an extract with Clase Azul and it was delicious. It's an expensive extract, however. We have found that Heradura reposado is excellent at 75% less the price. :)

Angel's Envy - anyone tried this brand? It is considered by many to be more fruity and an easier flavor. Plus the bottle is beautiful. Best beans used?

Curious you ever try a Japanese whiskey for Vanilla extract?

Never have, but I have used an American rye. It's spicy and I tend to go with bourbon because it's 51% corn and, therefore, sweet. Japanese is a little more sweet, so it may be great. Give it a try and let us know how it turns out. Have fun!

The Bottled in Bond Act does not make it a Bourbon. Everything else you stated makes it a Bourbon.
