Great video. I normally run the jackhammer and thundercricket. I find that the thundercricket runs smoother than the jackhammer on the retrieval. The jackhammer is outstanding when it comes to the colorway.

Really good advice. I subscribed immediately, but, I can’t help notice that we have preferences about how the lures look. But what is more important is the preference lies with the fish.

New sub., thanks for making this video. I know it was a lot of work. I bought an og chatter yrs ago and didn't even get bites on it. It got stuck in a tree and I left it there😡. 3 yrs ago I purchased 6 new chatters on special and dedicated several trips to learning how to use them. My collection has grown to 15 since our local lake was drained down last yr. I found 1 that I had lost and many more that got snagged in between the rocks to their watery tombs. Still use some times but find spring-summer with a little green vegetation works best.

Awesome video , after watching the underwater footage, I didn’t see a really drastic difference , to me, the original looked the best, but I didn’t like the hook being high, the elite was great, but the skirt didn’t move like the original, so I’m torn , but I don’t think I’ll be buying the expensive ones now because the cheap ones looked great. Really enjoyed this video and definitely loved the underwater action footage and provided analysis. This is the type of video content I wish was more available for several different baits and/or techniques because it helps you see the action of the different models or competitor’s model allowing me to take notes on a lot of different aspects. Was not aware of all the subtle differences between each model Chatterbait. Now I may start buying more of the Project Z’s than the Jackhammers. Keep up the great video content!

Fantastic video! Im looking for some chatterbait instruction recently, and this is absolutely what im looking for! Also your knot videos are really helpful! Keep going bro! Only few things i'd like to know, does chatterbait work on walleye or other species? I assume 3.3 inch is the best size for the trailer on Z-man Elite? and I feel pearl or white color works very well, what do you think of color?
@FishingwithNat2 жыл бұрын
I've only caught largemouth and pike on chatterbaits, but I think a walleye would strike it at least once in a while. I primarily use crankbaits and jigs + plastic minnows when I'm targeting walleye. I would agree that a 3.3" trailer is a good size for the Elite. I don't like trailers over 4.5" all that much - too many missed strikes. I use gray, green pumpkin, black/blue, and red trailers more than anything, but I've seen lots of fish caught on white too.
@scottburwell4683 Жыл бұрын
Yes they do! I have used them up on the Maumee river during the walleye run in springtime, they worked great. The chatter bait gave em something the walleye could find in turbulence.👍

What its better? Without trailer or with trailer?? Thanks
@FishingwithNat2 жыл бұрын
I pretty much always use a trailer on chatterbaits, but they will work without a trailer too. As the video shows, some chatterbaits like the Jackhammer are pretty crazy and erratic without a trailer. That can be calmed down a bit by adding a trailer, and the trailer creates a more realistic fish-like appearance.

Can we use chatterbait without trailer for snakehead fishing?

Absolutely. Snakeheads are usually high in the water column so topwater baits or other baits fished close to the surface are all effective for them.

I didn't test any Picassos. This video was mostly aimed at understanding the differences between the crazy number of different Z-man chatterbaits. I threw the Thunder Cricket bladed jig in there for comparison, but still focused on the Z-man baits. Every time I look at Z-man's chatterbait lineup, it gets bigger and more confusing.

Peacock bass will take a chatterbait, but I think they are usually targeted with shallow diving crankbaits and swimbaits. We don't have any peacocks around here.
