This answered SO MANY FRUSTRATED QUESTIONS I had about inconsistent dietary advice and helped me understand a disease my gastroenterologists either don’t understand or simply refuse to help me understand. Thank you so much for posting this.

I am an older child (17) with Crohn's disease I firstly was prescribed Mesalazine, now taking CBD (from Cannabis Indica). I am almost symptom free, except my diarrhoea though about 40% less still currently exists.

Preaching to the choir, here. The question is, how do I get my gastroenterologist to watch this?
@thehappydaysapp Жыл бұрын
Lol they won’t. It doesn’t pay them or the industry that directs their thoughts.
@sectionalsofa Жыл бұрын
@@thehappydaysapp Largely true! I went to four (yes four) gastroenterologists and only one acknowledged that diet makes a big difference. Even after I followed this way of eating for 8 months (without meds) and there was a substantial objective improvement on a cutting edge ultrasound, did that one of the four credit my diet to the improvement.

I’ve had Crohn’s Disease for 45 years and have controlled it by diet all that time. I’ve never had steroids. I feel very lucky.

What was frustrating for me, was asking my doctor what diet I should eat at my last appointment and he told me to go to the Crohns and colitis website that was useless. I have tried whole food only Keto and whole food only Carnivore and I also even tried a liquid only protein smoothie diet. I finally realized that the only common denominator was dairy and animal products. I dont see my gastroenterologist again until October, so I am going too start a plant based whole food diet Friday the 14th of July giving me 3 months to give a Vegan diet a good try so I can let him know what worked.

I'd love to know how this went for you. I have also tried every diet out there for my Crohn's. I've also been told to avoid veg and roughage but I'm thinking of trying this plant based route. My gastro has always said 'just eat whatever you want', which was not helpful.

Why is it that some Crohns sufferers have bad flare ups with fibre intake..?
@gl4ss0fmi1k33 жыл бұрын
Well for one fiber in general isn’t necessarily a bad thing. It’s if the fiber is soluble or insoluble basically can it be broken down and dissolved. Insoluble fiber doesn’t dissolve in water soluble fiber does, and instead it pulls water into the gut to make food travel more quickly through the stomach and intestines all this makes it significantly harder to digest. Because you’re not properly digesting food and soaking up all the nutrients it’s running right through you. That’s why doctors suggest consuming large amounts of fiber when you can’t use the bathroom it’ll clear you out .
@immers24103 жыл бұрын
Put simply for Crohn’s: soluble fibre good; insoluble fibre bad. The fodmap diet also worked for me
