What is the BEST FOOTBALL to BUY in 2024

I am a 60+ year old guy. I have loved football my entire life. I enjoyed playing when I was younger, but obviously too old to do that anymore. When I was in college my friends and I played with a Duke ball and enjoyed it. A few week ago I got to thinking back about that time in my life and it prompted me to do something that many may think strange. I picked up a vintage Duke football on eBay from the period of my younger days, even a little earlier. It is from 1972. I wanted this ball because it has the then commissioner of my youth, Pete Rozelle’s, signature on it. It was deflated when I got it (even though the seller claimed it fully held air) and as y’all may know, you just can’t blow it back up. Since it was in really nice condition and I got it at a decent price, I decided to keep it and sent it to Wilson to get the bladder replaced. They also replace the laces. Now this 50+ year old Wilson Duke football looks like new. Since I am not actually using it to play anymore, just to admire and spin it while watching football on TV, not being broken in, is fine with me. I LOVE the memories it brings back. When you guys get to be my age, you’ll understand!👍

I do this with some of my favorite footballs too that are on their last leg & soon to be flat. I just may have to send them in to get the bladder replaced as well. Another football that’s a heavy favorite in the adult flag football community is the “go team footballs” basically it’s the white strip on GST ball but it’s the entire ball. It’s does suck under wet conditions though. Otherwise great ball for flag

I just bought the Duke replica for $40. I only used it once, but I like it so far. What I like is that the laces aren't the plastic feeling laces like the other balls. If it holds up, I think It would be the best ball for recreational use and training if you don't have the money for a leather ball, but like I said only used it once but seems solid so far.

If you rub a bar of beeswax on any leather or composite football or basketball then give it a light brushing it will improve the grip even in the elements and for leather it protects it in the elements like rain I like to run the bar of beeswax across the laces on a football as well because it helps them stay whiter longer because the beeswax adds a protective tacky coating if you're interested to see how I break in my leather footballs I uploaded a short video

Not really, it’s a full sized nfl ball. But it is a great football. Just may be a little big. I’d recommend an omega or gst, but he’d still probably enjoy the Duke

My favorite ball I’ve ever had is the NFL footballs. They’re very grippy and the spiral is beautiful on them. My issue tho is I have like 8.5 inch hands which makes it harder to grip the ball. They’re expensive but worth it tbh. Very durable and after you break it in it’s everything you can wish for in a football. I say go for “the duke” man.

I am in the same boat as you. The span of my hands from thumb to pinky is approximately 8.3” and from wrist to middle finger about 6.7”. I have only owned a football for a few days, so it could be a general issue. However, I am really struggling to hold the ball in a relaxed manner. I tend to grip it very tightly. Do you have any tips on how I could hold it better? I have the NFL THE DUKE REPLICA FOOTBALL.

Depends. For practice or for games? Leather for games (especially pass heavy games), but composite if u need something to practice in wet conditions multiple times per week. Also depends on age. The older u are, the more often u should just be using a leather game ball
