Great vid - thanks. Will definitely use them once back on the road. Hit a piece of metal in FL on I-75, punctured my diesel tank and drained out 40 gals 😫, took 11 days to get a fuel tank replaced and Walmart was so kind to let me drop my 5th wheel on their property (Oxford, FL), 11 nights in a hotel w/wife & 2 dogs. Got back on the road & next day brake/turn signals did not work on trailer. Repairman found the grounding wire became disconnected somewhere towards the rear, added a new grounding wire and now back on the road. Glad HE doesn’t give us more than we can handle! Love the videos you both produce. Semper Fi!

Just bought my Thor Majestic 2 weeks ago. I found this comparison searching on RVT vs Dyrt. Thank you for such a concise explanation of the two. I ran out of my free trial for RVT yesterday after 12 day loop from Colorado to Philly & Boone NC and back. I found it both useful and frustrating to try to learn as I was traveling. But RVT has the essentials, RV safe GPS and the ability to enter any address. I'll be traveling this summer to the western US with only some specific events/dates set. The rest will be as inspiration moves me. RVT is clearly the best for my style of RV life.

I have not all the way through your video, I am looking to do Canada and Alaska. What I am looking for. You spend money on your rv. Power house, but when you buy fuel. Can you place all the cost into the app. What your MPH is. There are more costs. I am getting started. I was looking to see what happens as with a spreadsheet. Thanks
@sush20435 ай бұрын
You can record expenses for each of your stops in RV Trip Wizard. So, you would add a stop for fuel into your plan to record the expense or you can add the fuel expense to the campground stop for that night. You can export the trip to Excel and it will include all your expenses for camping, fuel , meals and misc in categorized columns.

Ty for the video! Can I please ask you a couple questions. 1st) Do these apps really keep you from getting in tight spots. I pull a 23 foot camper and would hate to get in a tight spot. 2nd) . And does the gps really work in real time., any delay could cause allot of trouble.
@todayissomeday2 жыл бұрын
Yes they do. But please know every GPS will get it wrong once in a while even the truckers complain occasionally. The GPS is in real time. Make a wrong turn and it will adjust your route.

Most people don't understand that Google and Waze are not designed for large vehicles like RVs and truck. You can and will get into trouble with Google guiding you. I understand why people like Google and Waze with all the extra information screen like restaurants, gas stations etc. I like the RVLife GPS for exactly the opposite. The tracking display is uncluttered and I can concentrate on my route without the extra clutter. When traveling I have RVLife GPS on my 10 inch tablet and a small Garmin with the same route sitting just above it. RVLife GPS is my primary GPS. The Garmin is there for the additional information it provides.

I would have given a totally different review. The positive for The Dyrt is how it picks the campgrounds automatically when you use the almost hidden route planer. Give it a start and end to your route then pick how much you want to spend then it does the rest. Some of the spots look fantastic, especially the free or almost free campsites. The big negative, and I dont understand why this is but you cant add dates to your route like you can with Trip Wizard. What I am trying to do without to much frustration is use Roadtrippers to start the trip to find neat places along a route, then use Dyrt to pick camps on the that route. (hard to do because Dyrt does not care for waypoints. then use Trip Wizard to do the logistics like how many days I will spend at one campground. Its a lot of work for me, and most times I get frustrated and start the whole process over.

Can you plan on the iPad or iPhone? The answer - a limited yes. RVTW is a web application and is much easier to use on a PC or laptop. RVTW is very 'click' orientated and is MUCH easier to use with a real mouse. Touch screen device are a real PITA to use RVTW web app. I've tried using RVTW on an iPad, Samsung tablet, iPhone and Android phone. Save yourself some grief and use a PC or laptop. There is a 'Drag Route' feature that is almost impossible to use with a touch screen device.

I've not tried The Dyrt yet, but did a deep dive into RV Trip Wizard for our trip in April. It worked well but I wish they'd integrate with Harvest Host. Contacted them to see why they don't. Harvest Host needs to give them access. Maybe someday. Will be planning our fall trip soon so may try The Dyrt again but we won't be bookdocking so it may not be worth the membership. I also use AAA Triptics because we have them for roadside assistance. I like to have a physical map too so get those from them before trip. I may have mentioned this before on one of your video's about TW. My major con is that the GPS is not Android compatible like the Google maps so it will not project to my trucks screen. In fact I seldom use a GPS anyway as we stay on interstates 95% of the time. I may use GPS for local address to a business or attraction and then its usually Google maps. I used TW for campground searching last spring for this winter in Florida and have that all ready to go. All I need to do is finish my routing from US 50 down I 65 etc. in Indiana to the Tampa area. I still prefer to do my own routing with an Atlas and the big US map in them. I am more of a straight line kind of a guy from point A to B. Oh, we are only part timers with most of our travels to out west to visit family from Montana to New Mexico. The DYRT is not going to be good for us.
@ericbrubakken85863 жыл бұрын
RVTW is not a GPS. You use RVLife GPS to load RVTW trips and use RVLife as your GPS.
@johnirwin18373 жыл бұрын
@@ericbrubakken8586 , You already know your route so why do you need a piece of electronics to tell you where to go? In mid June we went on US 50 from I 65 to I 81 and on up into Penn. to Gettysburg without the use of a GPS of any kind to include the RVTW.

You are correct and I do have my non exempt class b CDL here in TX.

We use RV Trip Wizard. We keep having trouble with the RV Life GPS so are looking to get a Garmin. Thanks for the comparison!!!

Yes, twice the RV SAFE GPS directions have put on roads we shouldn’t have been on. Low bridge height, even though we had our height in the filter. Also, took down the wrong road
