THE CHURCH IS NOT A BUILDING, BUT A PEOPLE DEVOTED TO FOLLOWING JESUS, FOR THE GLORY OF GOD, AND THE GOOD OF THE WORLD.
Jesus came near and said to them, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” {Matthew 28:18-20}
1: TO SUBMIT AND SURRENDER TO THE AUTHORITY OF JESUS
Jesus came near and said to them, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth.” {Matthew 28:18}
“Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, because flesh and blood did not reveal this to you, but my Father in heaven. And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overpower it.” {Matthew 16:17-18}
2: TO MAKE DISCIPLES
Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit… {Matthew 28:19}
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” {Acts 1:8}
3: TO BUILD UP, EQUIP, AND SEND OUT FOLLOWERS OF CHRIST
“…teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” {Matthew 28:20}
And he himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, to build up the body of Christ, until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of God’s Son, growing into maturity with a stature measured by Christ’s fullness. {Ephesians 4:11-13}
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. {John 3:17}
