Morning Brooke yes I’d love to see more on instapot cooking ! I have one but have been afraid to use it cause I’m not good with computer type cooking, I’ve been using my 54 yr old pressure cooker my momma gave me when I got married ! I love when y’all show us the egg candling , it so exciting to see new life being formed!! God bless ❤️🙏🙋🏻

I feel the same way, Becky. I'm shopping for an instapot now. Alls I got is my folks old stove top pressure cooker from when we were kids. Pop used it until he passed in 2019. I'm with you let's get to cookin' with Brooke! hUgz from Ohio, Lee

Thank you, Brooke! I didn’t know the egg trick in the Instapot! Yes, more Instapot cooking please. I’m one of those that’s a little intimidated. I’d love to see the CHF favorite Instapot recipe! I am so excited to watch the goslings hatch, I’ve never seen a newborn goose. This is your project and you raise all you want. I’m giving you permission to disregard other’s advice! 😘LOL! One more thing, even if Mrs. VCP doesn’t lay an egg it’s been a beautiful journey watching them build the nest and going along with you and the CHF fam to gather supplies for those gorgeous birds. I’ve enjoyed every moment. I’m praying they are waiting for warmer weather for the baby. Love what you are doing! Keep on keeping on!

Brooke: I was put on restriction by a 13-year-old! You made me laugh with that one! I can see how hatching the geese eggs could be fun and rewarding! I don't have an Insta-pot but I boil eggs for five minutes, turn off the flame, then put a tight lid on the pot to hold in residual heat for ten minutes. I did have some issues with peeling eggs. I have used the big spoon just inside the shell scoop method, but it is tricky. I will start doing the ice bath idea you showed. I think that step is what makes the eggs easy to peel. Thanks, Brooke!

Rebecca from Oregon here 🌻The best way if you don’t have a cooker pot is add salt to your water! And don’t be shy with the salt if it’s a large pot of eggs add a heaping tablespoon of salt otherwise just a tablespoon will work , I dont measure it, I just add quite a bit, a Spanish lady that sold boiled eggs at a store told me that and I’ve never had a sticky egg since! Also it doesn’t make your eggs salty! It doesn’t go through the shell:-) if y’all don’t know about it I hope you try it!!!

On your last video I saw the VC Pigeons trying to split a larger branch into smaller pieces. They pick a piece in their beak and shake their head since pigeons don't use their feet to help themselves. And seeing in today's update that they only use smaller sticks now, it makes me think they want some smaller material now to finish their apartment🤩

I agree, I think I would still keep adding rather they use it or not, at least it is there. I also think adding something softer for them to add to the top. I looked up some pictures and information and it looks like they are using Spanish Moss, like the kind that hang from the trees in Florida. If you don’t have that I am sure you could find it online or like hobby lobby or Joann fabrics. The nest to me looks incomplete. IMO

I don't have an insta pot, but I add vinegar to my pot of eggs then bring it to a boil, then either let them sit till the water cools or plunge them into cold water and add more vinegar and let them cool. When you do peel them the shell is practically dissolved and is simple to peel under running cold water. It isn't instant, but it works so well.

We ordered our chicks for this next season instead of incubating a batch this year. Now I'm kind of regretting the lack of that fun time of incubating chicks (we do it in our bedroom, too!) and the delight and wonder of first watching the development of the eggs, talking to the chicks forming in their eggs, then having them hatch and imprint on us as we continue to talk to them and hold them. My husband is way more invested and emotionally attached to them by this time than even me! Hearing your delight and wonder, Brooke, as you saw the gosling development, brought back all the feels 🥰

I think the VCP's need some softer type material to line the "nest bowl" to lay the eggs. Usually most birds use soft material(soft leaves, animal hair(clumps), shreds of soft paper, possibly feathers, etc.). But I'm not sure about VCPs. They might be waiting until the weather gets warmer & stays warmer, so when the chicks hatch, it won't be cold for them.

That was a very interesting video. Now I think I need an instapot. I love watching when y’all candle the eggs. It’s so exciting to see the babies moving around inside the eggs.

Brooke, when you need to use up some eggs, chop and add boiled eggs to soup, stew, casseroles especially with noodles. This is a very common practice among the Amish. It adds protein and bulks and extends recipes. Even vegetable soup will have diced boiled eggs in it. It's good!

I found out the L stands for time "lapsed". In other words time since it has finished. That is very helpful when you are going to do a timed release. Instant Pot trivia! Brooke, I am so excited for your goose babies to get here! And the VCP egg.

Hello everyone. The only thing I know about the CVP is what you have taught me. I was wondering if you are still supplying different types of nesting materials to keep them busy?
