I have an MSEd (Special Education) and got into a leadership role within the first 5 years of my career. Your explanations are good, but I think the MSEd is often undervalued. Many MSEd programs are very much practitioner-based. Honestly, they are viewed equally from a hiring and career advancement perspective. Your job performance and experience will have a stronger impact on your career than your degree. In my opinion, you should only choose the M.Ed. if you plan on being a general education teacher, or moving from general ed to administration. If you're interested in ANY other specialized area (special ed, reading specialist, EL, etc.), the MSEd is the way to go.

#ad Hi Sarah! This is a super subjective question since what would be considered "hard" for one person would not necessarily be for another. Grading is the same way. I can say that I feel like I have learned a LOT directly related to teaching that I have been able to apply in my own classroom since I started!

Hi Michelle, how had your experience been? What are you options for your culminating experience (I have seen options for testing, thesis and a project from other programs). I am going back and forth between a MEd and a MS Ed in instructional design and technology and of course still wondering if I have the time stamina to go back to school again at all since I teach, have a side jobs, teach extended school year services in summer, have additional stipend leadership roles in my school and am a single mom. I have been teaching for 5 years so as my careers path goes its the right time to move my education along but...can I really do it all.

This difference isn't always distinct education.usask.ca/programs/graduate.php They have these distinct areas lumped into just Masters of Education here, and generally throughout Canada. I have never heard of an MS Ed until today. Good video otherwise!
