My question is how many man should have in this team , seen this role job seems need take all non business development tasks 😢 What should they include in job ad description 🙄

I cannot say how big of a team that would be since that depends on the size of the organization, the needs, maturity, etc. Ideally, it would not be a big team. Even one person would be enough if he/she acts as the owner and the rest of the company contributes to it. However, that would require a certain level of experience (on the company level) so it might not be realistic for everyone. The answer is similar for the job description. If other experts are contributing to the platform and that person or that team acts more as an owner than a sole builder, than the job description would probably go into the direction of generalists (people who who a bit of many things instead of being experts in one thing).

DBA response for the design permission stuff Platform Engineer follow DBA suggestion make the way to standards the way to provision the permission on team and db 🤗 e.g using crossplane to handle this by IaC But I see most company only willing to hire platform engineer and he/she also handle the design permission😵‍💫 And then expand the logic to other layer 😰pushing everything to platform engineer Very sadly story….

@@vn7057 If DBA (or any other expert) is not working on creating services (and plugging them into IDP) but expects others to do that, than the need to have that expert starts being questioned. As a result, that same expert rejects cooperation because of the fear for his/her job security. Instead, he/she seeks isolation as a way to protect his/her experience and foster the perception that he/she is irreplecable (only I know this). As a result, that expert becomes even more alienated from the rest of the company. That scenario is quite the opposite from what we want to accomplish and how leaders in the industry operate.

I guess that depends on how you define DevOps. Platform engineering is easy to define (building an IDP) but devops tend to be fluid and differ from one company to another.

After a moment of reminding to myself different companies and teams that I worked with, Victor is right. When company mindset is opened - DevOps engineer participates in development processes starting from the decisions. When company does not believe (truly - not only on words) - then "DevOps engineer" becomes Platform engineer... :)
