Yay congratulations on 500 subbies! Now you are getting closer to 600 subbies 🙌🏻!! So excited and happy for you 💕! Lolz we love a pun 👏🏻🤣!! Oooo carbon pencils 😯. I don’t think I’ve used those types of pencils before. I’m very familiar with charcoal. It’s real messy and very powdery ✨. The eraser masks look so satisfying 🤩. Q-tips are a so fun to blend with!! Yay for Graphite 😍!! Interesting comparisons 🙌🏻! Girl you need to be an art teacher! You’re so well at explaining everything and know so much 🙌🏻✨💗!! 💖

thank you so much Kari!! You always leave sweet comments. Charcoal is definitely extremely powdery in comparison to graphite! It can be trickier to learn. I love blending with q-tips(I have a giant pack hahaha). thank you again💙

Hi Alexis! Great comparison, love the range of drawings you showed at the end :) How do you store your carbon/charcoal drawings, including practice sketches? The stuff gets everywhere! I live in a small space so it's not really possible to frame things. Do you use a fixative?
@AlexisCassandraArt2 жыл бұрын
Hi, thank you so much!! So what I’ve learned to do is just use tracing/wax paper to cover and store your drawings that have loose powder like carbon or charcoal. It’s easy and affordable to find a huge pad of wax paper, so I just do that until I decide I want to maybe spray a fixative. I’m usually too lazy to use fixative though unless I’m selling😂 haha

@@AlexisCassandraArt Makes sense! I looked online for advice and most people recommended glassine paper. But it's just too costly! Thanks for the tip 💕

I just hope everyone is safe in your place.. Anyway you have a very informative comparison in those pencils.. I've been using that kind of medium in my portraits before.. But I am more of using charcoals.

WOW!!! That drawing of Hendrix is AWESOME!!! This has been very helpful because I personally like black&white drawings over color, it seen more dramatic! Is there a preference on paper ( charcoal, Bristol, sketch)? And, would you use a light gray color paper with these pencils? I'm so new to all of these different pencils, back in the day it was just a #2 pencil, LOL!!! Thanks for all your help, you ROCK!!! Stay safe my friend, Rock On & God Bless!!!
@AlexisCassandraArt4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Hendrix is one of my favorite drawings I’ve done! Black and white definitely has something special to it, I agree. I would say sketch paper is a bit thin and it’s better to use a thicker paper. Bristol works great for both graphite and charcoal, I haven’t had much luck with papers labeled “charcoal paper” before though. And toned grey paper also would look good with charcoal, especially if you have a white charcoal pencil to add bright highlights! That would be awesome. Thanks again for the kind words💙 I also did a vid on paper choices in case it’s of use to you - kzbin.info/www/bejne/rKuTipqaiLWobtE

Thank you for this video. What type of eraser is that?
@AlexisCassandraArt3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! The eraser is tombow mono zero (round). It’s a great detail eraser, and you can buy refills for it! Also comes in a square shape but I find round gets the finest detail.

I tried both together with graphite; didn't work that much. so I stop using charcoal. I manage to buy 15B; it works well like the charcoal but it's actually Graphite 😊😊

good job showing the differences between them 🙂 I love charcoal but it is sooo messy and always ends up all over my face somehow lol 😛
@AlexisCassandraArt4 жыл бұрын
Thank you😊 oh and the same thing happens to me with charcoal 😂 I recommend trying out the oil based charcoal! It’s less messy, and easier to control and still adds a nice dark value. I didn’t even know it existed until I picked up a few pencils open stock at an art shop!😂
@fuzzydragons4 жыл бұрын
will have to look that up, haven't heard of it before either 🙂
