What is the difference between mean and average in cdo

This is my first climate unboxed "shorts" that aim to explain one aspect of data analysis in a simple short video. This one examines the difference in the mean and average (abbreviated to avg) functions in climate data operators (cdo) when analysing gridded data in netCDF or grib format.

Timepctl is the percentile over all time steps while runpctl is the percentile over a moving window, like runmean

in general i use "mean" - missing knocks out the value for any calculation using "avg"

Hello sir, Thanks for your tutorial.. I have a problem with cdo -f nc -b F32 mergetime jplMURSST_*.nc outfile.nc My data is daily for 3 years, the size of data 710Mb. My results is "error:Input/Output Error... Any solution of this sir.

Some of the solution, file size if more than 2GB use "-f nc2 or -f nc4" but when i tried my results is Netcdf:HDF error

The data is daily mean, and the data is Float 64. I have downloaded all daily in that month, start from jplMURSST_Jan2014 till jplMURSST_Des2016
