One of the major themes through the book of Proverbs is both wisdom and knowledge. So we wanted to take some time to answer the big question, what's the difference between the two. In this ten minute message, Pastor Byron will explain this important theme in Proverbs and how you can apply it to your life.

Knowledge is understanding of information and wisdom is proper application of knowledge.

yes, without wisdom, we become reckless despite knowing stuffs - even worse, we become arrogant and further refuse new or alternative insights even from authoritative sources as we assume that we're already knowledgeable

My take on wisdom, understanding and knowledge: Wisdom is limited to one specific time and space. It is the ability to use the resources available: (money, knowledge, relationships etc.) to find solutions. Wisdom can be very different for different situations and people. For one person it might be wise do shut down his business and try something else. For another person it might be the opposite: to soldier it out and try one more time... Wisdom can't be pinned down and contained! Knowledge is general and isn't bound by time and space. It can be contained in our memory and be used as a tool in the tool box. Knowledge are facts like mathematical equations... Some knowledge might not be true though so we shouldn't (believe or hold as true) every knowledge that is out there. Understanding is when we delve deeper into a subject and we are able to connect the dots and see patterns. Understanding comes from practice, study and meditation on subject over a long time... Understanding sits somewhere between knowledge and wisdom.

Are you saying that in order to be wise, you have to be a Christian? Don't you think that non-Christians like Plato, Aristotle, and Buddha had at least some degree of wisdom?

Fear of the Lord means fear and terror, not reverence. Reverence is a different Greek word… timeo. Jesus said to fear God who can cast the body and the soul into hell. I’m tired of the smooth talking churches

You are misleading people on the wrong day, wrong name; taking HIS in vain. You worship "the lord" but that's not who you are portraying him to be.

@@Sp00kyBlueGhost "Vain" means to, "to make worthless". "God" has a name which isn't "god" or "lord" or "Jesus". The first two of those are titles, and the last is completely wrong as well. His name was removed some 7000 times in the OT and NT. His name has meaning too. But you must seek this out to find it (which isn't difficult). I can't remember what this guy was talking about since I wrote this comment a year ago, but for the sake of argument I'm going to assume he was talking about Christmas. This was wrongly integrated into practice (syncretism) as it was a Pagan practice (Saturnalia). There are 7 feasts we're supposed to keep but nobody pays a lick of attention to what He said in numerous places. Calling Yah (short version) "Lord" is doing exactly what Halal ben Shakar (HaSatan, Lucifer, the adversary) desires because what you are actually doing in calling Yahowah "Lord" is that you are instead showing your respect for HaSatan instead of Yahowah. And I highly doubt the standard christian response is going to fly with him, "He knows what I mean". Satan arrogantly thinks he can sit above Yah and every time you people call Him "Lord"... you are in fact projecting a lie, taking his name IN VAIN, making it worthless. And every time a Christian bows down to a freaking crucifix of a dead Jesus on a cross once again (cross is also wrong) he was impaled on a pole, you're bowing to an idol, or Catholics with their Mother Mary... more idolatry. He says something about that in the 10 commandments if I'm not mistaken. He even warns of x-mas in Jeremiah 10:2-5. I could go on ad nauseam but I cannot teach what you do not seek...... truth... if that is indeed the case.

@@serge3463 OMG no....LOL. They also still promote Paul so far as I know. I was once involved with.a Hebrew Roots Movement type group but had to part ways when they would not address the lies I can see Saul/Paul say. They were basically like most churches but used the real names and kept the Sabbath and Feasts we're told to keep (Not x-mas and Easter). I don't think Jehovah is a correct transliteration of YHWH, or. יהוה. Currently the oldest known copy of the OT comes from the DSS, or Dead Sea Scrolls. They supposedly date to 200 or 300 BC. In them you find the original Hebrew, of the OT, or Torah, prophets and psalms and many more. If you can learn to ID the Hebrew letters for Yah'owah's name you'll see it's what was originally used and was replaced, very wrongly, with terms like Lord, Hashem, Adonai and others. God has a name and it's embedded in many of the other names of prophets and other important people written of in the Bible. HalleluYAH.... for instance "Praise Yah". "Jesus" is also not Messiah's name. I'll stop there, I don't buy into the trinity either. I believe, Father, Son and Ruach Quodesh are all separate entities, individuals.

Religion becomes a matter of belief, and belief acts as a limitation on the mind; and the mind then is never free. But it is only in freedom that you can find out what is true, what is God, not through any belief; because your belief projects what you think God ought to be, what you think ought to be true. If you believe God is love, God is good, God is this or that, your very belief prevents you from understanding what is God, what is true. Belief conditions experience, and experience then strengthens belief. The authority of a belief imposed by religion surely destroys the discovery of reality. One relies on authority because one is afraid to stand alone. Belief creates its own experience; therefore, such an experience is not true. If you have the courage to touch life for the first time, you will never know what hit you. Everything man has thought, felt and experienced is gone, and nothing is put in its place.💨
