Off the top, this is a great long campaign domain, especially if you end up short on magic weapons.

YES, Forge! Thanks for the video - a couples things I'd add to what you said is: -Some races like Dwarf, Elf and others give you some martial weapon use -Agree with Heavy Armor & War Caster feats, would add Shield Master -Variant Human and going with one of those feats off the hop might be best, & stick with simple weapons to start -And agree blessing of the Forge +1 to an item is huge at first, and still useful to someone in the party long term Suggested unique build: start V.Human Crossbow Expert Fighter 1 / then Forge Domain 1 to bless your crossbow & add bless spell, then decide which way you want to go from there! Just be sure to add Sharpshooter at some point for IMO the best maximum offence / tanking ability in the game...

I can totally see how a dip into forge domain can be a great addition to fighter. Going a crossbow fighter I would be inclined to only take the 1 level though. Get the blessing of the forge then go back to fighter to get to your extra attacks. That's an interesting concept I think I'll explore more.

Pick dwarven forge cleric, it's as thematic as it's going to get, plus you get to swing a warhammer. And the CON bonus helps on frontline endurance and also for making your concentration saves. As variant human I would take the warcaster feat first. holding your concentration as frontliner counts. But getting warcaster lvl 1 only help keeping Bless up longer, giving your party more opportunities to forget adding the D4. You can pick up the feat at 4th level before spirit guardians come online anyway.

@@nargileh1 after having logged MANY hours of actual play experience during the pandemic my view has swung pretty hard away from warcaster and towards resilient con. Concentration adv is meh compared to proficiency, opp spell attack is nearly useless (never, I mean never comes up), and casting spells with somatic components is just plain workable with even slightest of user effort. Warcaster vs resilient +1 con for cleric n pally is a no contest imo. Other pure classes or multiclassing with shield / absorb elements... sure. Other than that it’s simply overrated.

You cannot transmute with Fabicrate, as it says in the spell description.

BTW, if you ever take the Resilient feat, I'd put the +1 into Constitution so that you would be proficient in Constitution saving throws so that you'll be able to make better concentration checks!!

Blessing of the forge is good on paper, but is limited by what the DM provides, and is redundant with the spell Fabricate. When I DM, I allow the player to create Magic itens faster than normal (1day=1 week) as long as the player has the materials. It Works like a summoning a Magic forge with 2 homunculus familiars that help you do the job faster.
@TheRPGDaily4 жыл бұрын
Alright, I'm not following this thought process so well. As written, Blessing of the Forge lets you turn a normal weapon or armor into a +1 version of that weapon. Fabricate lets you create a non-magical item by transmuting materials. In my mind these compliment each other letting you make a +1 weapon or armor that fits your party needs. So I don't see the redundancy. But if you meant that Artisan's blessing is redundant, Yes I can agree with that, Except for that it gives you the ability to create something at level 2 where Fabricate isn't available until level 7. I can see how the DM's generosity can get in the way, but I don't know any DM that would be withholding if the adventurer goes to look for metal to use in the Channel Divinity. That is a very generous change to magic item creation! I know players would take advantage of that all the time, you're a saint for allowing that haha!
@gumed854 жыл бұрын
@@TheRPGDaily Yes, I meant Artisan's Blessing, I am sorry! I allow players to create magic itens AS LONG AS they can provide the materials in value corresponding to the *magic item creation table* in XGE, just at a faster rate (costs are the same). edit: Also, I apply minimum level requirement according to item rarity.

@TheRPGDaily4 жыл бұрын
With the Forge cleric you do get proficiency in heavy armor. So I would take the chainmail as starter gear. use that and a shield and you'll have a nice High AC.

RPG Daily thanks any advice for hammers ?
@TheRPGDaily4 жыл бұрын
If you're just starting at level 1 you can always take a warhammer which you can use with your shield but if you want to go bigger maybe the DM will let you skip the shield and use a Maul instead. The trade off of course if defense (high AC with the Shield) vs offense (2d6 Damage with the Maul). If you're higher level the best idea is to talk to you DM about what you would like in a weapon and they might be able to help you find a suitable item or even create one with you.

Got any advice for a hill dwarf forge cleric optimisation? tanking and healing
@TheRPGDaily4 жыл бұрын
From the tanking side I think you've got a straight forward pairing, Hill dwarfs get extra health and the forge cleric gets heavy armor. so as you max out your Con to get your health pool up. The Resilient Feat will give you a good boost to con and con saves. pair that with War caster you can basically maintain concentration spells no matter what hits you. For healing, your spell choices will determine how much healing you can do. My thought at this moment is to use low level healing spells, they won't heal high numbers but even a tiny bit of health can mean life or death. you'll have more low level spell slots than high level ones which would mean you could cast the spells more. You won't want to be caught running out of spell slots when your party starts going down. Overall though, I think your potential as a healer will rely on you staying alive.
@Ulfhednir94 жыл бұрын
@@TheRPGDaily that's awesome advice thank you :) I've been thinking about casting aid(in the morning) and shield of faith then taking a defensive stance (dodge) then using bonus actions to healing word / spiritual weapon. While taunting them with some sweet dwarven insults. Think that may work? I'm very new as a caster and my party is all light - medium ranged weapon users so I have to keep their hairless butt's alive is hard
