I believe Manual Tester can't be replace, before executing Automation Test/Performance Test as a Tester we need to study the business features, exploratory testing to understand the business flow of projects/product. Moreover just from my own experience Manual Testing need to execute first to make sure the testing app is stable, especially there are some change requests. Automation Test is helpful but the automation script can get failed if business functions are not stable or being stuck.

I am working as a manual tester but my prior experience was in non technical background...considering current situation I have to upgrade my skills sothat I can move further in my career but I am confused what should I start with as a first step? I partly agree with you. 1 question - Please tell me what is manual testing, is there anything like Manual development. No right? The thing is as you said a tester needs to learn new things. Sure. But do you think automation is just the end point for value creation? I still beleive we will need smart Testers who can visuslize the defects in the product in their head and they will still provide excellent value. In this process, automation should help the testers to test better and not the other way round...

Instead we can say out of 10 testers only one manual tester is required in future rest all will be automation Testers.And as a manual tester i am telling it's already died .there are very less opportunities.if any freshers are wannna start their career.Please prefer automation testing and learn the required skills.

You can start with Katalon Studio automation tool. There even if you dont have any programming knowledge then also no problem.

Katalon studio requires to have Java or groovy language experience

@@TheTestingAcademy yes true.. What i was trying to say is we can do record and playback there and also we can do the scripting in manual mode just by giving the keywords which are self explanatory.. So it becomes easy for the beginner in automation.

Trust me Vinay, Record and Playback does not make sense, These days we have web apps which are very dynamic in nature and require special handling.

@@dhananjaychormale9212 Many of the companies will ask for Overall experience and Specific Skill Knowledge Experience. Like 10 Years in Testing and 2-3 Years in Selenium/API Testing. Before jumping directly into Automation, better to have some manual Testing knowledge, it will help you while writing any scripts. In my opinion, learn both (first Manual testing + then Automation).
