I’m a bit late to the conversation but, have been running TC105X in 9.5x18 et38 in Australia for almost 2 years now. I run 255/35R18 Yoko V105 on the road and ran 265/35R18 Yoko 052 for track. I did get some rubbing at the rear with the 052 265s, even with -2.5 camber, and this would be better with an et45 offset. I have no rub at all at the front with -3.0 camber on the 052 265s. The V105 255s have no rub at all in any alignment. I also have a set of TWS T66-F forged wheels in 9.5x18 et 40. I’ve chosen to run 255/35R18 RE71RS on these to avoid rubbing. Last point to consider is competition rules. Some modified production classes say you can only run +1 inch wheels over OEM. If I knew that before buying mine I would have stayed with the 9s. 9.5 with 052 265 look the best by far with the car lowered 30mm.

I run the tc105x 18x9.5 with AR-1 265 tyres and also the forged version in 18x8.5 +43 with CR-S 235 tyres. I think 9.5 with 265 is overkill for most as you will struggle to get tyres up to temp. The other consideration is the weight of the tyres which go up very quickly with increased width.

Hi, thanks for your comment. There are too many variables that will influence this. First of all: strutt thickness in front will limit you Second of all: ride height also influences how much clearance And other factors. But probably -3 should be ok. Salut!

You video was very informative and i have learned a few new thing! I want to put these on the Yaris too and i have the same dilemma. It think if you are mostly doing street driving 18x9 with 245 (or 255) would be more than enough right? And it's probably less expensive, wheel and tires as well, and narrower tires are probably better when it comes to Aquaplaning etc and a Yaris has to be driven in the Rain and all conditions. Does the weight of the tire have an impact too or is that negligible? and what about the impact on the stock suspension setup when you have have wider (probably) more grippier tires? Well that's at least what my thoughts were, happy to get more inputs. :)
@JesseSpec
@JesseSpec Жыл бұрын
I pretty much tend to think 9 is better for the street too. Its a bit less extreme. The weight of the tire plays a big role since its on the extremity of the wheels, so it will have an impact for sure. Also each tire brand/model has a different weight so one needs to chose wisely. Regarding the stock suspension setup, if you mean geometry then probably the good thing of having stock offset is you don’t change it. However I am not say getting a new and more agressive geometry wont improve the handling ;-) its always a game of trial and error…
@binskee677
@binskee677 Жыл бұрын
@@JesseSpec i was thinking more about spring rates than the geometry but hey i'm not an expert haha. I think i would go for the same tires in 245's (PS4S) as i'm not driving on track with this one ... for now at least. Hi, good question! Let me give you my opinion on this. Its maybe not everybodys mindset but anyway. I would not mix widths front on rear for the following reasons: - its not like that from the factory - even if you manage to find identical external diameter tires, I tend to say a 4x4 will not like it due to the differences in potential rotational speed and also torque/weight difference. - it would probably make the car even less tail happy, which is clearly not what I want 😉 Hope this helps!

My OEM CIrcuit pack wheels, balanced and done, are 8.3kg each. Also, if we're going to get a look at previews of wider wheels on cars (end of video) let's compare all wheels on either stock height or lowered cars. The 8x18 on stock GR Yaris suspension vs the wider ones on lowered cars will trick a few peoples eyes. Just pointing it out. Correctness in information is important.

Hi, Maybe you can help to provide the photos of all these wheels on stock cars? I’ll happily redo the video with your photos. Sorry buddy, but such luxury is Not always available. Maybe you haven’t realised, but this isn’t a multi million dollar KZbin channel. I operate with what I have, and your comment doesn’t really take that into account… I don’t know where you found 8.3kg… but thats not what I found🤷🏻 But Even then, these wheels are nearly half the price and easily a kg lighter in equal size of the stock forged ones… so although I appreciate your fact checking, in the end it doesn’t change the end result of the information provided through this video. Do you really think my goal is to trick people? 😂

Does that clear the big brake kit? I am not sure to be honest

It definitely does. There are people having 17x9 and 17x9.5. More rubber apsorbs better road imperfection plus less unsprung mass. But people always go for looks instead of drivebility. Only advantige with 18 is there is more room for brakes 18" can take up to 380mm brake. Unless going to bigger brakes 17 is sweatspot.

Hi, what do you mean? I made this video because I get asked this question everyday at work: what wheel size do you recommend for the GR Yaris?"

What's the best wheels spacers? And how many mm you need to have the stock bbs wheels to be flush?
@JesseSpec
@JesseSpec 4 ай бұрын
Hi! Thanks for your question. To be honest spacers suck! They mess up your geometry and handling. Don’t put spacers. All your bushings and bearings will also thank you
