Now this speaks to my core. Many learners in public schools particularly ema lokshini get left behind ngoba certain aid is only afforded to the "elite". Its pained me for the longest time. I hope to also make an impact in education someday in the near future. Thank you for this conversation, very informative!!

Psychology is a great career path but getting into master’s has become much harder as they only select a maximum of 12 candidates when there’s more than 1000 honours graduates. This can be quite emotionally and psychologically exhausting. An advise would be to have a plan B career path. I have heard stories of people waiting 5-7 years to get accepted. So there are disadvantages. But great informative video🙏🏾

You are right Amukelani, hence I did another video to encourage psych students about psychology career articulation and I speak exactly about what you indicated, alternative career path. However, my take is always that if it is your desire to be a psychologist, nothing should discourage you from become one as you will never regret it.

That’s true. I will be doing my master’s in educational Psychology next year. Hopefully when we apply for jobs, the government can employ us as well to assist with the workload and provide assistance and support to those that need it. Unfortunately there isn’t enough budget for psychological services in our country.

Informative video. This is helpful as I'm also in the process of applying for my educational psychology masters. Dr T in one of your videos you mentioned how one must familiarise themselves with the university's theoretical perspectives. I have been trying to find out about UJ, I believe I have found it however Am not sure. Can you please share some light on which theoretical perspective UJ follows.

Quick question Doc, most of us didn't really know what Educational Psychologists do, now that I do understand, I'm interested, however, I've already applied at UP for Clinical, if I apply now for Educational as well, am I ruining my chance? Do you think I should send my application?

As long as you have 3rd year psych either PGCE or Hons Psych will do, obviously honours in EDPsych will be better than PGCE unless you want to do PGCE as an alternative to working as teacher part time as you can do that while studying masters
