You nailed it. I'm 83 yrs. old and ride a 2020 FXST with the M8 107. Its the close cousin of your bike also with the 3.5 gal. tank. I'm a conservative rider and most of my riding is done in the country. It doesn't matter if I ride 55 mph or 70 mph, my bike will deliver me 57 mpg riding solo and 55 riding with my wife. It does it every time. Love it!! And yeah, after a couple of hours I'm ready for a stretch.

I agree 100% I used to tour on a Sportster with 130 mile range which Lasted about 2 hours on the interstate. I welcomed the break every 2 hours. On really long trips I carried a half gallon of gas in a tiny gas can in the saddle bag. I never had to use it for my own bike but I have rescued another motorcycle on the side of the road.

That's awesome. I think the most important pushed Mt sporty was about 120miles on a tank

200 miles on my 5 gal tank, only way to get to far places. when we ride with 3.5 gallon tanks they definitely slow us down with more breaks. this only matters when your doing 400 plus miles trip often enough for it to matter. also if you have full suspension you'll be able go further and a proper windshield that blocks enough. if you want to do long miles its better when ur bike is set up to do it, you don't "need it" you can toughen it out but you'll pay for it with soreness and pain.

I was on my way home from a trip and had some set backs. Had to make it from Indiana to New York in a day. Riding at a good clip burned some gas. Twice the gas stops would have me riding a lot more hours. I didn’t want to but I’d rather have it and not need it than need it… When everything is going good I’m off the bike same as you. But if you’re going to road trip, it’s not always going to go good. Especially in the desert or some screwy place haha! Great vid! I was curious about the street bob range

I live in Philly also and city driving really cuts down the gas mileage. I hate gassing the tank. To me it's one of the biggest hassles of riding. That's probably the main reason I traded in my 20 Bob for a 23 Lowrider with it's 5 gallon tank. I got tired of filling the tank after crossing the bridge to go to the shore and having less than 1/2 a tank when I got there. Now I can go down and back with just one fill up. On a side note, I recall year's ago when I was lost in Bucks County and pulled into a station on empty. I had to deal with the owner bitching about how much he hates cycles because he doesn't make anything. If I had any gas at all I would have left that station and tried to find another one.
@TheMotoJawn11 ай бұрын
Yeah Riding around the city is just terrible all around. Kills the gas mileage
@Thatguy-fl6yr11 ай бұрын
Wouldn’t it be easy to buy a tank for like 3-500 bucks? Haven’t met anyone who has done it on a street bob but I don’t think it’ll look bad
@dgross200911 ай бұрын
@Thatguy-fl6yr I've seen videos of tank swaps. The final cost including paint and in my case labor would be well over $1000. That would obviously be the cheaper alternative if this was your only goal and didn't care about getting an over all much nicer bike which the Lowrider is
@RevJay_Rides11 ай бұрын
It depends on whether I’m riding on the freeway or country roads. It also depends on the temperature. There are times I ride for 3 1/2 hours. Now, that would be when I’m riding an average of 60 mph and the temperature is between 50 and 80. If the temperature is 90 something, I will stop for a drink more often. On the Interstate going to Sturgis, I’m riding between 80 and 90 mph, and it is usually pretty hot too. So, I’m probably stopping at 2 hours.

26 yr old male here with a bike that has a 3.2 gal tank (40-45mpg) and I can say solidly that my breaks are determined directly because of my gas mileage. I’m in good physical shape so it’s nothing for me to ride around 3 hours without getting off the bike. And if I’m in town my bike will deliver 3 hours with no breaks. But highway riding I’m stopping about every hour to hour and a half because of the fuel capacity. Not complaining, just answering the question posed at 3:00.

I can say at 28 years old there’s no real physical limitation. I get 120 miles on the tank, my new 5 gallon tank is being painted now I will make a video once it’s completed along with the other fender tombstone/teardrop design. I cant even describe how excited I am for this tank.. when I go on a ride, most places I go there are 110 150 miles between stations. Just saying you asked what kind of rider needs the big tank. Oh yea and not to mention i put 10k on my bike in five months! I made it to 182 mills when i pulled in to the station my bike died before getting to the pump. Even on my regular Z900 that gets about 47 mpg, I bring a 2 gallon Rotopax on top of a H&B sportrack. Took it on a 1.5k mile trip and brought extra fuel just in case the station was closed. In the middle of the Nevada desert anything goes. My new LRS I'm not sure what it gets. Not broken in yet, but seems a little thirsty. Hate to put a rack and Roto on the back. In Winnemucca Nev., seen a guy on an 883 with 2 Rotos coupled together. Those little peanut tanks aren't for long distance. This guy was like Bronson from the 60's. Cool bike tho. 2 hours is about it for me.
