My wife has the gift of showing mercy. We have knocked on thousands of doors to share Christ. Whenever we knock on a door together it is amazing how God uses her to present a very calm situation. People we have never met have invited us in. When I pastored I saw ladies change as they saw how she related to me. Without saying a word we have been able to be an example of how a husband and wife should be. We are very different and have learned how to communicate and relate to one another well. So God has used that for us to deal with men and women in marriages. My wife is an example to single men because they see her behavior. About two hours after my dad met my wife when we were dating he told me I had better marry her because I would not find another one like her. When we got married nobody in our families were Christians but today most of them are. I have seen how my wife has melted the hard hearted. Because of my wife we have been given so much. People give her gifts. They want to get together with her just to visit and eat lunch. She eats dinner regularly with a lady with a lady who is not a Christian. Her husband told me that we are an example to her.

I take strong issue with the sentence in the description: "The pastor's wife is meant to glorify the ministry and work that her husband has been called to, and could not do without her." This does not have any Scriptural grounding. A pastor's ministry does not need to be glorified. There is no call for any such thing in the NT. We are to glorify Christ. That is it.

I completely agree. The wife's job is not to keep them qualified. That is the pastor's job. Why do you need your wife to keep you qualified? A pastor's wife is simply another member of the church. There is a lot of "biblical this" and "biblical that" WITHOUT ANY scripture being quoted.

@@feedtheabby You said "that is the Pastor's job". Should His wife be helping him with that? Or is there a category in a man's life where his wife being his help meet does not apply?

@@nando7522 it’s his job to stay qualified. His wife should support but it’s isn’t her job to keep him qualified. A pastor’s wife has no biblical role when it comes to being the spouse of an elder. She is simply another member of the church.

@@nando7522 The Bible does not establish an office for “elder/pastor wife.” It doesn’t offer her a job description or duties or role. With this said an elder’s/pastor’s wife shouldn’t be held to set of expectations. Rather, an elder’s wife should feel free to simply be a happy, healthy, growing Christian who seeks to fulfill the “one another” commands in the context of her church just like every other member should.

@@feedtheabby So you're saying that it is not her job to keep him qualified but to support him in his effort?

Unusual to read 'Biblical house church' and 'THE pastor' in the same sentence.

Women can lead other women and guide them. We have that example of Miriam in the Old Testament. They should be allowed to study on seminary. That’s messed up that they can’t

I pity victims and survivors of sexual abuse and exploitation who attend a home church where the Pastor thinks it’s “beautiful” that only a man can minister to their theological and spiritual needs in that specific area. That comment was astoundingly patronising and tone deaf to the need for female equipping, discipleship, training and commissioning in ministry towards other women. He sincerely and genuinely believes women - his wife included - are appliances (he said ‘tool’) and doesn’t even begin to acknowledge the separate and distinct _theological_ necessity of women’s leaders such as Phoebe, Junia, Lydia, Priscilla and those mentioned by the Apostle Paul! Does the man who Pastors women at John McArthur’s church go through menopause? Endometriosis? Breast cancer and mastectomies? Have miscarriages? Or is it that because _he_ doesn’t experience those things he is free to suppose they have no spiritual component to them, and that theology doesn’t speak to them, so the women “helpers” should give them a hug and accompany them to the ob/gyn? I will need a scriptural reference for that, please. How is “beautiful” the correct word to describe clear abdication of duty to see and treat women as equal before God as prescribed in the Bible? That is CLEAR eisegesis from religious zealots refusing to fully include women in church life, the exact opposite of what Jesus did?!

It’s quite arrogant for an English speaker in the 21st century to say, “scripture is very clear” about anything. Assuming the Reformed/Complementarian position is the _only_ position and that it is 100% inarguable when there are literally hundreds of millions of Bible-interpreting believers who read the very same scriptures and have reached a different conclusion, is not a position of conviction, that’s just being a Pharisee. It’s pride. And it is ugly.

It is astounding that you can use the term Biblical in this question...the modern day pastor has absolutely zero scriptural justification to exist. It is an entirely extra biblical construct. The word pastor occurs only once in all the scripture...the brothers and sisters are mentioned over 150 times...that should be our ratio. you people make me sick.
